Kevin Warren

Assistant Coach

For Kevin Warren, returning to Chico State isn’t just another coaching stop—it’s coming home. The former Wildcat standout and two-time Chico State graduate begins his first season as an assistant coach, bringing his playing experience, academic excellence, and professional perspective full circle to the program where his collegiate journey began. Warren joins the Wildcats’ coaching staff after spending the 2023–24 season as an assistant coach at Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho. There, he helped guide the Warriors to a 24–8 record, a runner-up finish in the Cascade Conference Tournament, and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. As a player, Warren was one of Chico State’s most respected leaders and top performers. The Oakland native transferred to Chico from Cal State Monterey Bay and went on to earn All-CCAA First Team honors during the Wildcats’ 2021–22 campaign, helping lead the team to the NCAA West Regional championship and a berth in the NCAA Elite Eight. That season, he ranked second on the team in scoring and started all 27 games during one of the program’s most memorable runs. One of the most accomplished scholar-athletes in Chico State basketball history, Warren was a five-time Academic All-CCAA honoree, a two-time Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award recipient, the 2019–20 CCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Scholar Award winner, and a member of the 2019–20 NABC Honors Court. Warren earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication studies from Chico State, completing his graduate degree in 2022. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally in Australia’s NBL1 during the 2022–23 season before returning to Chico to begin his collegiate coaching career where it all started.
