Katie Garcia
Head Coach
Katie Garcia's Student-Athlete Profile Former Toro standout outfielder Katie Garcia returns for her 13th season as assistant coach for her alma mater. In addition to coaching from the first base line, Garcia works with the outfielders. Garcia served as interim head coach during the 2018 fall semester until her former coach Jim Maier returned to the helm for the 2019 campaign. In addition to playing for Maier from 2007-10, Garcia was his assistant coach from 2011-13. Between her time on the field as a player and as an assistant coach under Maier, Garcia has helped the Toros compile a 319-200 record and qualify for four NCAA Regional appearances, including a Super Regional contention in 2012. The Toros also won the CCAA championship that year. In a decade of coaching the Toros, Garcia has produced two All-Americans, 10 all-regions, 23 All-CCAAs. The Riverside native herself was a four-time All-CCAA selection, claiming two first-team, a second-team and a third-team honor for both her offensive ability and defensive prowess. She holds four Toro records that include marks for at-bats and hit by pitch in a single season, and doubles and hit by pitch in a career. Additionally, she sits in the Top-5 all-time Toros records in runs, triples, total bases, games started, at-bats, hits, walks, games played, intentional walks, and RBI. She is also seventh in on-base percentage and 10th in slugging percentage for a career. A career .310 hitter, she slugged 7 home runs and drove in 69 runners in her four years, ending with a stellar senior campaign in which she either tied or exceeded all but four previous year totals. Garcia received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from CSUDH in May 2011, and her Master's Degree in Education in May 2013, also from CSUDH.

Stephanie Jimenez
Assistant Coach
Link to Stephanie Jimenez Student-Athlete Profile Perhaps the greatest pitcher in Cal State Dominguez Hills softball history, alumna and All-American Stephanie Jimenez returns for her seventh season leading the pitching corps in 2024. Since the reuniting with her former coach Jim Maier for the 2019 season, Jimenez has transformed the pitching staff into one of the best in the CCAA again. The 2020 campaign saw improvements in then-junior Alyssa Olague and then-sophomore Ashley Wies, despite the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly and disappointedly cancelled the remainder of the season. Olague was selected to the one-time only CCAA All-Star team after finishing first in the conference in saves (4), third in wins (9), fifth in innings pitched (73.1) and sixth in strikeouts (62). Wies, meanwhile, started eight of her 16 appearances and in 61 innings of work she struck out 59 batters, five short from reaching her freshman mark which that year she threw 111 innings. In Jimenez's first season leading the pitching corps in 2018, the Toros boasted 160 total strikeouts. Then-senior Alyssa Valinches struck out season-best 129 batters, good for third in the CCAA. The 2012-13 CSUDH Female Athlete of the Year, Jimenez played her entire collegiate career in a Toro uniform from 2010-13. Jimenez holds nearly every career pitching record in the program. She boasted 84 wins, 17 saves, 662 strikeouts and 23 shutouts on 802.2 innings pitched. She also holds the single-season record of 232 strikeouts set her senior season which included a no-hitter. She was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America third team and Daktronics All-America honorable mention during her senior season. In her career, Jimenez was a two-time All-West Region and All-CCAA honoree. Jimenez proudly has a daughter, Sophie, and a son, Liam.

Jared Maier
Assistant Coach
To Jared Maier, Cal State Dominguez Hills softball is his sibling. The son of the Toros' winningest head coach, Jim Maier, Jared has been part of the softball program since his father took the reins in 2001. As an assistant coach, Jared returns for his sixth season, guiding runners from the third base box along with coordinating the offense and setting the defense. Maier played a key role to the Toros' run to the program's first NCAA West Region title and to the NCAA Championship Series. Within the region, the Toros finished fourth in batting average, first in hits and doubles, fifth in home runs, sixth in on-base percentage. The Toros also set program single-season records in hits and doubles. He also coached Raquel Jaime to the program's individual single-season hits record while watching her win All-CCAA, All-West Region and ultimately the NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player award. Before he got into coaching, Maier played center field for St. Paul High School's baseball program in Santa Fe Springs. In his senior year, he was named the team's defensive player of the year along with being named second-team all-league. Maier is currently enrolled at Fullerton College studying Kinesiology. Jared is the middle son of Jim and Lori. His older brother Jake was a standout quarterback at UC Davis and is currently signed with Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. His younger brother, Kyle is currently pitching for Mt. SAC's baseball team.
