Anne Whipple

Head Coach

In August 2024, Anne Whipple was named Interim Women's Soccer Head Coach at Cal State East Bay. Following an outstanding 2024 season, the interim tag was removed in December 2024 and Whipple was officially named the head coach in a full-time status.  The 2024 season under Whipple's direction was historical for the program. The Pioneers, after starting CCAA play at 1-3-0, went on a run to finish the regular season on a seven-match unbeaten streak. A win in the regular season finale not only clinched a spot for the team in the CCAA Tournament, but elevated the Pioneers in the standings to the second seed, earning a first round bye. In the CCAA Tournament Semifinals, East Bay won 1-0 to advance to its second CCAA Tournament Championship Match in program history. Overall, the Pioneers had 11 wins - tied for the most as a CCAA member. Following the 2024 season, the Pioneers were listed as 'Receiving Votes' in the final United Soccer Coaches Division II Women's Soccer Poll. Multiple All-CCAA Awards were garnered by the Pioneers in 2024 including one First Team, one Second Team and three Honorable Mention selections. Whipple served as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach for the Cal State East Bay in April 2022 and served in that role until her promotion in 2024.  Before joining the Pioneers, Whipple served as Head Coach for Holy Names University during the 2021 season.  Additionally her collegiate coaching experience includes serving as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Saint Mary's College of California from March 2019 to February 2020. At SMC, Whipple was the program's recruiting coordinator, monitored academics, coordinated travel, oversaw budgeting, set pieces, organized equipment and oversaw video analysis. At SMC, Whipple was Director of Soccer Operations prior to being named as an assistant coach. She also served as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach at Central Washington University from July 2017 to February 2018.  In addition to collegiate soccer, Whipple has coached at the club level, including a year as Head Girls Soccer Coach, U11 for San Ramon FC and over four years with Diablo FC as Head and Assistant Girls Coach, U15, U17, U18.  Whipple played in the San Ramon WPSL and as a student-athlete at SMC, served as team captain for the Gaels.   Whipple graduated Cum Laude in 2016 with Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Saint Mary’s College of California.
