Head Coach
Lauren Flowers, a nationally recognized coaching veteran at the NCAA Division II level and Northern California native, is in her second year as the head coach of the Stan State Warrior Volleyball Team. She led the Warriors to the winnegest season in school history with a 19-10 (.655) overall record. The 19 wins tied for the most in school history. The Warriors finished in sixth place in the CCAA with a 10-8 conference record. They advanced to the CCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament. Three Warriors earned All-CCAA honors. Gabby Rawson was a First Team selection while Macky Morris earned Second Team and Alex Byrd was Honorable Mention. Rawson was the CCAA Libero of the Year and an All-Region honoree. Stan State also excelled in the classrom with five Warriors being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in Haley Burdo, Makenna Carrillo, Alex Byrd, and Cassie Corbett. Flowers, who hails from Santa Clara in the Bay Area, came to Turlock and Stan State with nearly 10 years of coaching experience in Division II, most recently serving as an assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce from 2019-21. She also coached at the University of Texas Permian Basin from 2017-19 and earned her master's in educational leadership while serving as an assistant coach at Western New Mexico University from 2015-17. The Lions were immensely successful while Flowers was on the staff during her three seasons. With the help of Flowers' guidance, the Lions amassed an overall record of 45-23 and received national and regional rankings for multiple weeks in two different years. They had players named All-American on four occasions and collected 15 all-Lone Star Conference awards, including Setter of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year accolades. Flowers was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 under 30 award program in 2021, a national program recognizing up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels. She also spoke at the 2021 AVCA National Convention as the only Division II coach on a panel titled "Moms who Coach: A Scouting Report to Doing It All (or Almost)." Flowers has long been involved in Division II volleyball, even before she became a coach. She spent her collegiate playing career at Azusa Pacific, always a power at both the NAIA and Division II levels. The Cougars made the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II while Flowers was on the team. Flowers graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2014 with a bachelor's in liberal arts. She earned her master's in educational leadership from Western New Mexico in 2017. She comes to Turlock with her husband and former fellow assistant coach, Steven Flowers, and their two girls, Joy and Micah.

Fourth Season (2025) Azusa Pacific ’14 Record at Stan State (through 2024 season): 50-36 (Fourth Season) Career College Coaching Record: Same Lauren Flowers, a nationally recognized coaching veteran at the NCAA Division II level and Northern California native, is in her fourth year as the head coach of the Stan State Warrior Volleyball Team. In her first season as the Warriors' head coach in 2022, she led the them to the winningest season in school history with a 19-10 (.655) overall record. The 19 wins tied for the most in school history. The Warriors finished in sixth place in the CCAA with a 10-8 conference record. They advanced to the CCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament. In her third season, Flowers made history in several ways, first with a 9-1 record after 10 games, which is the best start for the program in the NCAA Division II era. The Warriors went on to advance and win the CCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, which then led to their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Flowers has coached seven All-CCAA honorees during her coaching career at Stan State. Six Warriors earned All-CCAA honors in 2024, including Gabby Rawson winning her second Libero of the Year honor and Malia Tanksley earning Freshman of the Year. Rawson went on to become a third team AVCA All-American. Rawson and Alex Byrd each received All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors in 2023. In 2022, three Warriors earned All-CCAA honors. Rawson was a First Team selection while Macky Morris earned Second Team and Byrd was Honorable Mention. Ellison Weaver was named the 2024 CCAA Tournament MVP and was awarded AVCA Player of the Week for her performance in the Tournament, the first time a Stan State Warrior has held that honor. Her team for the third year in a row was named an AVCA All-Academic Team in 2024. During her career at Stan State, the Warriors have also excelled in the classroom with eight Warriors being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. At the CCAA Tournament in 2024, Haley Burdo was honored with the Elite 13 Award for having the highest GPA of any player at the Tournament. Maggie Billingsley
Assistant Coach
Stan State head volleyball coach Lauren Flowers hired Maggie Billingsley as the Warriors’ Top Assistant Coach in July of 2023. Billingsley came to Stan State from Colorado State University Pueblo where she was the assistant coach this past Spring for the Thunderwolves. Prior to being on the Thunderwolves’ staff, Billingsley was on the staff of Western Colorado in Gunnison, Colo. At Western, Billingsley was the assistant coach at later the interim head volleyball coach. This will be Billingsley’s eighth season of coaching at the intercollegiate level in 2023. The Lemoore, Calif., native also has coached at Holy Names University, Notre Dame de Namur University, and the College of San Mateo. When she was on staff at Holy Names from 2020 to 2022, Billingsley helped lead the Hawks to the second most wins in program since HNU joined the PacWest Conference in 2012. During her first season on staff at HNU, the Hawks finished in second place in the Northern California Pod and had two players named to the All-NorCal Pod Team. Billingsley started her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Notre Dame de Namur University in the Fall 2018. She was promoted to the head coach on an interim basis the following season in the Fall 2019. Billingsley helped guide the Argonauts to a victory in her first career match and later to victories over PacWest rivals Dominican and Holy Names. After the 2019 season, she was promoted to head coach in January 2020. Her time as a head coach was short-lived due to the termination of all athletic programs at NDNU in March 2020. Prior to starting her coaching career, Billingsley was a standout setter for Notre Dame de Namur from 2014 to 2017. The four-year starter holds the school record with 2,958 assists and assists per set with 9.57, ranking ninth in the PacWest history books for both categories. In addition, Billingsley ranked second at NDNU with 99 career service aces which is the 13th best career total in PacWest history. Billingsley graduated from Notre Dame de Namur in Spring 2018 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Psychology. She received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Management and Leadership from Holy Names in 2021.
