In the 13 seasons as a varsity program under his watch, Calvin has an 115-87 record, with nine winning seasons. In 10 MIAA seasons under Boehm, the Knights have tallied a 67-21 record. Boehm picked up his 100th victory at the varsity level on March 8, 2024, in a 14-12 win over Cal Lutheran University. He has led Calvin to the MIAA Tournament nine times and to the NCAA III Tournament three times. In 2025, the Knights tied the program record with 12 wins and finished second in the final MIAA standings with a 5-2 league record. In 2021, Calvin captured a share of its fourth MIAA regular season title including its first since 2018. In 2018, the Knights advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the third-straight year. The Knights finished the season at 12-6 and posted a perfect 8-0 record in MIAA play. Calvin had six All-MIAA selections and had the first MIAA Offensive MVP in program history in Kelly Pepper. In 2017, Boehm and the Knights captured the MIAA regular season title and MIAA Tournament title in the same season for the first time in program history. The Knights advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. Calvin had six All-MIAA selections, including senior Emily Cefaratti, who was the first Calvin women's lacrosse player to be named MIAA Defensive MVP and an IWLCA All-Region selection. Boehm led the Knights to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016. Calvin reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating Albion in the MIAA Tournament, 12-11. Boehm’s Knights finished the season with a 12-6 record and a 7-1 MIAA record. The Maroon and Gold had five All-MIAA selections, including three on the first team. In 2015, Boehm led Calvin to its first-ever MIAA regular season championship as the Knights posted an 8-0 league record. Calvin's 2015 team had six All-MIAA selections including three on the All-MIAA first team. In its second season as an NCAA Division III varsity program, Boehm led the Knights to a 6-2 conference record to take third place in the MIAA. Calvin finished with an overall record of 10-6. Calvin's 2014 team had five players receive All-Conference honors. Boehm began his coaching career in the fall of 2007 as the head coach of the women’s club lacrosse team at Calvin College. In his first year, he led the Knights to an undefeated (11-0) season and their first ever Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) conference title. In his five seasons with the club team, Boehm posted a career record of 39-21. In 2007, Boehm co-founded the Woodland Sports Lacrosse Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A program that offers off-season youth lacrosse leagues in the Grand Rapids area. Boehm graduated from Calvin University in 2006 where he was a face-off midfielder and a two-year captain on the men's club team. During his four seasons, the Knights captured four Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association (CCLA) championships and made two Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) National Tournament appearances. During his senior season, Boehm earned All-Conference accolades. Boehm holds a Bachelor's of Arts in exercise science & physical education from Calvin University. In addition to coaching at Calvin, Blake is a Realtor with Greenridge Realty in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He and his wife, Corey, live in Grand Rapids with their son Bodie and daughter Saylor.

Brian Diemer
Head Coach
Diemer has been at Calvin as men's cross country coach since the fall of 1986. In 2006 he added responsibilities as Calvin's head women's cross country coach. The University of Michigan graduate was a state champion in the mile as a high school runner at South Christian. He competed in the cross country, indoor track and outdoor track seasons as a scholarship runner at Michigan. As a senior he was the Big Ten and NCAA Division I steeplechase champion, the event which propelled him to the 1984 Olympics and a bronze medal. Diemer finished fourth in the steeplechase at the 1987 World Championships and qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in 1988 and 1992, but did not medal at either Olympics. In 1989 he won the Glen Cunningham Award, presented annually to the top distance runner in the U.S. In 1992, he captained the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team. Diemer was the gold medallist in the steeplechase at the 1990 Goodwill Games and won the silver medal in the steeplechase in the 1995 Pan American games in Argentina. Diemer also won the silver medal at the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1995 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Diemer continues to organize and compete in a number of road races in the West Michigan area and competed at the 1996 U.S. Olympic Track and Field trials in the steeplechase. Diemer has been named Great Lakes Regional Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year 16 times in the last 20 years. He was named the Great Lakes Regional Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2000, 2003 & 2004 he was named the NCAA D3 National Coach of the Year in men's cross country after leading the Knights to the national championship. Diemer was then named D3 National Coach of the Year in 2006 after leading the Knights to their fourth national title. Diemer also is a member of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame and the University of Michigan Track and Field Hall of Fame. While at Calvin, Diemer has led the Calvin men's cross country team to 29 MIAA titles, 22 Great Lakes Regional crowns, 11 top-four national finishes, four national runner-up berths and four national titles. With 29 league titles under his leadership, Diemer is the winningest coach in MIAA men's cross country history. Diemer has also led the Calvin women's cross country teams to eight MIAA titles, seven Great Lakes Regional crowns and four top-four national finishes. With a total of 37 combined MIAA titles under his watch, Diemer is ranked number-one on the all-time MIAA coaches list for championships won. Calvin's teams have also excelled in the classrom during Diemer's tenure, earning team All-Academic honors from the College Cross Country Coaches Association of America for the 19 of the last 20 years. In addition, Diemer has coached 19 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Diemer and his wife, Kerri, have four childen: Kelsey, Kaitlin, McKenzie and Matthew.

She also served as interim head volleyball coach at Hope College in 1994. Through the 2024 fall season, Warners has compiled an impressive overall record of 705-120 for a winning percentage of .855 that ranks second amongst all active Division III head coaches in terms of winning percentage. As Calvin’s head coach, she has compiled a record of 684-109 for a winning percentage of .863. Under Warners the Knights have won three national championships, doing so in 2010, 2013 and 2016. She has also led Calvin to 13 campaigns of 30 wins or more. Warners is a four-time AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year (2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014). Warners is tied for second on the all-time NCAA Division III AVCA National Coach of the Year Award list. Former Juniata head coach Larry Bock leads the list with five National Coach of the Year awards while Warners and former UW-Whitewater coach Kris Russell has both received four National Coach of the Year awards. She is also an eight-time AVCA Division III Great Lakes Coach of the Year, winning in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2022 and 2025. Warners has coached seven AVCA Division III Player of the Year winners, Rebecca Kamp in 2011, Lizzie Kamp in 2012, Megan Rietema in 2013, Maggie Kamp in 2014, Anna Kamp in 2017, Sarah DeVries in 2018 & 2019 and Heidi Westra in the fall of 2021. In addition, she has had five of her players go on to be named Academic All-Americans of the Year, most recently Heidi Westra in 2022. Warners has led Calvin to 20 NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including appearances in the NCAA Division III regional finals in 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025. Under Warners, Calvin has claimed 16 MIAA Tournament titles - doing so in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2025. She has led Calvin to 14 MIAA regular season titles, doing so in 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & (spring season) 2021, 2022 & 2023. Coach Warners has put together a record of 294-22 in MIAA matches, for a winning percentage of .930. She has helped coach six perfect 16-0 seasons and three 8-0 campaigns. During her time at Calvin, she has had a player named MIAA MVP 15 times. In the spring of 2021, she led Calvin to a 9-1 record and an MIAA regular season title. She followed in the fall of 2021 by leading the Knights to a 32-4 mark that included an MIAA Tournament title, NCAA III Great Lakes Regional Tournament crown and advancement to the NCAA III Championship final. The appearance in the national title match was Calvin's six appearance in the title tilt under her leadership. In 2022, she led Calvin to MIAA regular season and MIAA Tournament titles as well as a trip to the NCAA III Regional Tournament final with the Knights finishing 27-4 overall. Calvin's 2019 team went 27-3, capturing MIAA regular season, MIAA Tournament and Great Lakes Regional Tournament titles, advancing to the national quarterfinals for the fourth straight year. In 2018, Calvin produced its ninth consecutive 30-win campaign, finishing 33-2 overall. The Knights posted a perfect 8-0 league record and captured the MIAA Tournament title. Calvin moved through the NCAA III Tournament, winning its third straight regional crown with a thrilling five-set win over Wittenberg. Calvin then reached the NCAA III Tournament final for the sixth time in program history before falling in the final to Emory University. The 2017 season saw the Knights go 30-4 and advance to the NCAA Division III Semifinals. Calvin posted a perfect 16-0 record in MIAA play. Anna Kamp was named the AVCA NCAA Division III National Player of the Year. She posted her 500th career victory with a 3-0 victory over Hope, to clinch the MIAA regular season title. In 2016, coach Warners won her third national title with Calvin. The Knights finished the year with a 33-1 record and a perfect 16-0 record in MIAA play. The Knights defeated Washington University in St. Louis in three sets to win the national title. Alyssa Scholten was named the NCAA Elite 90 Winner. Warners helped lead the Knights to the NCAA Division III regional finals in 2015. For the second-straight year, she was named the AVCA Division III Great Lakes Coach of the Year. On September 12, 2015, she recorded her 400th victory here at Calvin College, defeating No. 9 Hope College, 3-0. In 2014, she led Calvin to an MIAA regular season co-championship, an MIAA Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Division III semifinals. She was named the 2014 AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year. She also was named the 2014 Division III Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year. She claimed her 400th collegiate win in a victory at Albion College on October 3, 2014. In 2013, she led Calvin to its second national title in four years as the Knights defeated Cal Lutheran University in five sets. She was subsequently named the AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year for the third time in four years. The Knights finished the year with a 35-1 record. In 2012, she was once again named the AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year after leading her team to the national championship finals. Calvin captured the regional title with an upset win over second-ranked Wittenberg University. She landed her third Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year honor in 2011 after leading Calvin to a 33-1 record which included a number-one national ranking throughout the regular season. She picked up her 300th collegiate victory in a win at Albion College on October 7, 2011. In 2010, she led Calvin to its first-ever NCAA Division III title in women's volleyball as the Knights defeated top-ranked Emory University in four sets. She was later named the 2010 AVCA Division III National Coach of the Year. The Knights finished the year with a 32-4 record. The 2009 season saw Warners’ Knights advance to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament. Calvin finished the year at 28-7 and won the MIAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over host Hope in the finals, 3-1. In 2008, she was once again named Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year after leading a youthful Calvin team to a record of 26-5 including an NCAA III Tournament bid. Warners picked up her 200th collegiate victory in a five-set victory over Carnegie-Mellon University on August 30, 2008, at the Ohio Northern Invitational. Warners helped lead the Knights to a second-straight MIAA regular season title at 15-1 in the MIAA in 2007. The Knights would go onto to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Hope in the MIAA Finals, 3-0. In 2006, she was named Great Lakes Regional Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after leading Calvin to a 34-2 record. Warners was named the MIAA Coach of the Year after recording a perfect 16-0 record in MIAA play. In 2003 to 2005 the Knights would record three-straight second-place finishes in the MIAA. Calvin would go on to win the MIAA Tournament in 2004 and 2005. In her first season as head coach in 2002, Calvin recorded a second-place finish in the MIAA, with an overall record of 26-7. Warners has also served an eight-year tenure as Calvin’s softball coach where she led the Knights to pair of NCAA III Tournament berths. In 1997, she took Calvin all the way to the NCAA III Softball World Series where she was honored as Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year. Warners previously taught at Holland Christian High School where she coached softball and volleyball. In 1994, she guided the Maroons to the MHSAA Class B Volleyball State Championship game. Warners also served as the interim head volleyball coach at Hope College in 1994, compiling a 21-11 record. A 1990 Calvin graduate, Warners was a former two-sport standout for Calvin in volleyball and softball. As a Calvin student-athlete, Warners was a member of six Calvin teams that captured MIAA Championships, three in softball and three in volleyball. Calvin also earned six NCAA III Tournament bids, three each in softball and volleyball. She was an outfielder on Calvin softball teams finished fifth in the nation in 1989 and fourth in 1990. She also was a member of the Calvin volleyball team that finished second nationally in 1986. She was twice named the league’s MVP as a setter and was named to the All-MIAA first team three times. As a Calvin senior, Warners was honored with the Kay Tiemersma Award, an award presented annually to the varsity women's athlete who best exemplifies athletic ability, scholastic standing, and character and leadership. Warners earned her master's degree from Michigan State University in sports psychology in 1996. She also received her Ph.D. from Michigan State. She and her husband Mark have three sons: Emmett, Carson, and Tanner. Also a Calvin graduate, Mark is a teacher at Grand Rapids Christian High School and serves as one of Calvin's assistant men's basketball coaches.

Al Hoekstra
Assistant Coach
Hoekstra has been an integral member of the Calvin cross country program and track and field program since joining the coaching staff in time for the 1986-87 academic year. A native of Palos Heights, Illinois, Hoekstra's running career began at Chicago Christian High School where he was a state qualifier in cross country as a senior before graduating in 1973. He continued at Calvin where he was a three-year member of the Calvin men's cross country and track and field teams. While at Calvin, Hoekstra held Calvin records in the two-mile, three-mile, 3,000 meter steeplechase and indoor two-mile runs. In addition to serving as an assistant coach with both cross country programs and with the men's and women's track and field teams, Hoekstra serves as the recruiting coordinator for Calvin's cross country program. While at Calvin, Hoekstra has helped Calvin capture 28 MIAA titles in men's cross country and 24 MIAA titles in women's cross country. He has also been a part of all six national titles in Calvin cross country history two in women's cross country and four in men's cross country. Hoekstra and his wife, Kris, have a son: Kurt.

Westhouse began her run as an assistant cross country coach at Calvin in 2015. A 2000 Calvin graduate, Westhouse was a member of two national championship cross country teams in 1998 and 1999. Individually, Westhouse (Kuipers) won All-America honors in 1999 after placing 29th.

In addition, she serves as Calvin's Assistant Director of Athletics. In nine years as head coach, she has amassed a won-loss record of 230-102 that includes four trips to the NCAA III Tournament. Seven of her Calvin teams have earned the MIAA Team GPA Award for maintaining a cumulative team grade point average of 3.30 or above. Her 2024 team set a school record for victories in a season, finishing 34-12 overall while reaching the finals of the NCAA III Regional Tournament. The Knights finished 23rd in the final NFCA D3 Top 25 ranking. In addition, she coached sophomore Brooke Hunderman to 2024 MIAA Pitcher of the Year honors. On May 1, 2024, she picked up the 200th win of her collegiate coaching career in a doubleheader sweep of Alma. Her 2023 team hit the 20-win plateau for the sixth time under her watch, compiling a record of 29-11 that included a trip to the MIAA Tournament Championship finals. The Knights were regionally-ranked over the final three weeks of the 2023 regular season. She coached senior Hannah Biddlecome to MIAA MVP and NFCA Division III All-America honors in 2023 with Biddlecome later receiving CSC Academic All-America honors. Biddlecome was one of five Calvin players to receive All-MIAA honors in 2023 and three to land NFCA All-Region accolades. In 2021, she led Calvin to an MIAA Tournament title in the midst of a pandemic and guided the Knights to their third NCAA III Tournament appearance in the last four years. Calvin finished 29-9 overall, reaching the NCAA III Regional Tournament semifinals. During the 2021 season, Hilgert picked up the 100th victory of her collegiate career. The Knights started the 2020 campaign with a 4-1 record before the spring season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Academically, Calvin placed 15 players on the MIAA Academic honor roll and received the MIAA Team GPA award for the second straight season with team GPA of 3.5689. In four prior seasons, she has compiled an overall record of 87-41 that includes back-to-back trips to the NCAA III Tournament (2018 & 2019). In 2019, Hilgert led the Knights to a 31-10 record and their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals. The Knights finished second in the MIAA at 12-4 and won the MIAA Conference Tournament for the first time since 1997. The 2019 team landed five All-MIAA selections, two NFCA All-Region selections and six NFCA Academic All-Americans. For the first time since 2009, the program received the MIAA Team GPA award with a 3.429 team GPA. Hilgert led the Knights to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 20 years in 2018. The Knights finished the year with a 32-10 record and advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals. The Maroon and Gold finished the MIAA season with a second-place finish in the MIAA at 12-4 and advanced to the MIAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. The 2018 team landed five All-MIAA selections and three NFCA All-Region players. The 32 victories in the 2018 season was a program record. In her first season as a head coach, Hilgert recorded a 20-20 record. Calvin landed two All-MIAA honorees and had two players named to the NFCA All-Region team. From 2014-2016, Hilgert served as assistant coach for the Calvin softball program. A native of Bloomington, Minnesota, Hilgert is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. At St. Thomas, she was a four-year starter in the infield for the Tommie softball team that won three MIAC Championships and made four consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. As a senior in 2002, she served as a team captain on a team that won the program's first NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Softball World Series and placed fifth in the nation. She was subsequently named to the NCAA Division III World Series All-Tournament team. As a player, she was named an NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete in 2000. At St. Thomas, Hilgert played for three coaches in four years, including John Tschida, who is the all-time winningest NCAA Division III softball coach. Hilgert graduated from St. Thomas with a bachelor's degree in political science while holding a minor in communications. As a St. Thomas student, she spent a semester with the St. Thomas exchange program with American University, studying in Washington D.C. during the fall semester of 2000. She completed her Masters of Science degree in recreation and sports sciences with an emphasis in coaching education at Ohio University in 2016. In 2004, Hilgert began a four-year run as chief of staff in the Michigan State House of Representatives. Prior to her appointment, she was a part of four separate national political campaigns. In 2008, she co-founded Traditions Communications, a multimedia communication consulting firm. Hilgert later served as an assistant women's varsity softball coach at Allegan High School from 2011-2013 while also serving as the school's assistant varsity women's basketball coach from 2012-2014. After departing Allegan High School, she was awarded the Bob Terry Distinguished Service Award for her work with the softball and basketball programs.
