Rob Jones

Head Coach

Rob Jones was named the new men’s basketball head coach at Cedarville University on July 30, 2024. He guided the Yellow Jackets to a 13-16 record during his first season in 2024-25 and they advanced to the G-MAC Tournament Semifinals. CU’s road to the semis began with an upset at No. 1 seed nationally-ranked Findlay - their second win on the Oilers’ court. The Jackets also stunned No. 9 UF on their floor a month earlier. Cedarville gave Jones his first victory with a 77-66 decision over Quincy at the Midwest Region Crossover, ironically at Findlay. Jones came to the Yellow Jackets after serving as the associate head coach at Liberty University from 2022 through 2024. During his time at Liberty, the Flames piled up 45 victories featuring the 2023 ASUN regular season title as well as the school’s first appearance and victory in the NIT. Jones possesses more than 20 years of collegiate coaching experience including 19 at the NCAA Division I level. Jones spent 17 years at the University of Richmond. He was the associate head coach from 2015-22, assistant coach from 2008-15, and the director of basketball operations from 2005-08. Jones saw the Spiders achieve eight 20-win seasons, nine post-season appearances, two Atlantic 10 titles, and a pair of final Top 25 rankings. Jones spent the 2004-05 campaign at Division II Alabama-Huntsville as an assistant coach. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Salem High School in Georgia from 2002 through 2004. Jones is a 2001 graduate of Toccoa Falls College where he was an All-NCCAA South Region performer on the hardwood. The Jefferson City, Missouri native was a two-time all-conference and all-district player during his prep career at New Bloomfield High School. Dan McNeely

Assistant Coach

Dan McNeely joined the Cedarville University men’s basketball coaching staff beginning with the 2024-25 academic year. The Beavercreek, Ohio native came to the Yellow Jackets with 15 years of collegiate coaching experience including the last seven as head coach at Division III Maine Maritime Academy. McNeely guided MMA to the 2024 North Atlantic Conference quarterfinals - the Mariners first such appearance in 13 years. He ended his tenure with back-to-back ten-win seasons which was the first time in 16 years the school registered successive double digit wins. McNeely was the 2018-19 NAC Coach of the Year after leading Maine Maritime to 11 victories overall and a 7-7 mark in league play. He coached one conference Player of the Year and one Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. All seven of McNeely’s MMA teams earned the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches with 16 student-athletes recognized on the NABC Honors Court and 22 named NAC Academic All-Conference. He was an assistant coach at Division III Piedmont University in Georgia for two seasons (2015-17), spent three years as an assistant (2012-15) at DIII Manchester University in Indiana, and was a graduate assistant at Division I The Citadel in South Carolina for two seasons (2010-12). As a player, McNeely was prepped at Xenia Christian High School and then played one season at Wittenberg University. He was a member of the Tigers’ 2006 NCAA Division III national runner-up squad. McNeely is a 2010 graduate of Wittenberg with a degree in business management. He earned a master’s in exercise and sport science from The Citadel in 2012. Dan and his wife, Elisabeth, who was a NAIA All-America distance runner for the Lady Jackets from 2005-09, reside in Cedarville with their two sons.

TJ Nagy

Assistant Coach

TJ Nagy joined the Yellow Jackets’ basketball coaching staff beginning with the 2022-23 season. Nagy played basketball three seasons at nearby Division I Wright State University for his father, Scott. The Raiders finished 22-14 in his final season and captured the 2022 Horizon League Championship. WSU won their NCAA Tournament opener against Bryant in the First Four and was eliminated by No. 1 seed Arizona in the first round. Nagy saw action in both contests. He was prepped at Bellbrook High School and was a member of one Southwestern Buckeye League championship squad.  Nagy is a 2022 graduate of Wright State with a degree in business management and is pursuing a master’s in business administration at Cedarville University. TJ and his wife, Bekah, reside in Xenia with their daughter, Elsie Jane.
