Head Coach
Young has led the Raiders to thirteen Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference championships while compiling a record of 635-321. She has coached 79 All-Conference players, 67 All-Region performers and 21 All-Americans. Additionally, 49 of the athletes Young has coached have earned NJCAA academic awards since 1997. She has been named NCCAC Coach of the Year twelve times and Region IX Coach of the Year eleven times, and was selected as the American Volleyball Coaches Association West Region Coach of the Year in 2002, 2008, and 2011. A past president of the NJCAA Coaches Association (2012-2015), Young has served on the American Volleyball Coaches Associations (AVCA) Two Year College Coaches Committee since 2012. In August 2015, Young was appointed to the AVCA Board of Directors as its two-year college representative. She is currently serving as the region director for womens sports for NJCAA Region IX after previously serving in the assistant region director position for a decade. A native of Arcadia, Neb., Young earned her associate of arts degree from CCC-Columbus, a bachelor of science degree in recreation from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., and a master of science degree in counseling-student affairs from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In addition to her coaching duties at Central Community College, Young is a full-time faculty member in physical education. She and her husband Joel have two children, Kaden (13) and Gabbi (11). Jared Johnson
Assistant Coach
Johnson assists head coach Mary Young in several phases of team operations. Johnson has a wealth of volleyball experience at the collegiate and club level. While attending CCC-Columbus, he served as a student assistant coach while earning an associate of arts degree. Johnson then transferred to Peru State College where he was on the mens volleyball team. As a senior, Johnson was the national leader in digs per game and earned MAMVIC All-Conference honors. He graduated with a BS in middle grade education. From 2005 to 2012, Johnson was a libero for the Omaha-based Slamwich club volleyball team. Johnson helped lead Slamwich to back-to-back national championships in 2007 and 2008. For nine years, Johnson taught seventh grade science at Columbus Middle School, and for three years, he served as the head volleyball coach at Columbus High School. During that time, Johnson earned a master of arts in education with an emphasis in secondary school counseling from Wayne State College.
