Cheryl Stacy
Head Coach
Stacy brought to CMU a wealth of experience as an instructor, collegiate coach and professional player. She served as the head coach of the women's golf program at Michigan from 2009-13. During her time in Ann Arbor, Michigan twice advanced to NCAA Central Regional, placing 18th in 2011 and 16th in 2012, and two Wolverine student-athletes earned All-Big Ten recognition. In 2012, Stacy led Michigan to a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships, marking the Wolverines' best finish at the league tournament under Stacy. Stacy's student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, as they earned a total of 14 Academic All-Big Ten honors and 16 Michigan Athletic Achievement Awards. Two were named Big Ten Distinguished Honors Scholars and one received the prestigious National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete award. While at Michigan, Stacy also assisted in the planning and development of the university's $2.5 million indoor golf facility. Prior to taking over the program at Michigan, Stacy served as assistant with the Wolverines from 2005-09. Stacy worked as a teaching professional at Lake Forest Golf Club in Ann Arbor and served as the boys' golf coach at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor. Before joining the staff at Michigan, Stacy served as a teaching professional for more than a decade at several locales throughout Ohio. From 1985-94, Stacy played on the LPGA and Futures tours, along with the Women's Florida, Central Florida and Central Florida Challenge tours as well as the Kosaido Asahi Asian Golf Tour. She won a combined six tournaments on the Futures and Florida Women's tours. Stacy was a standout player at Ohio State, earning All-America honors in 1984 and 1985. She helped lead the Buckeyes to eight tournament wins during her career, including three consecutive Big Ten titles. She was twice the medalist at the Big Ten Championships. Stacy was inducted into The Ohio State University Women's Sport Hall of Fame in 2001 and is a Class A Member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division. Lauren Grogan
Assistant Coach
Grogan was a four-year letter winner at Michigan, notching five top-20 finishes during her career, and twice was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team. She played for the Wolverines for two years while Stacy was the head coach. An accomplished player, Grogan finished eighth in the Michigan PGA Women's Open in 2016 after placing 12th (fourth among amateurs) in 2015. Grogan has previously served as youth coach with the Teach Grow Achieve Junior Golf Program and as an assistant student coach at the University of Michigan Golf Camp. At U-M, Grogan was active with the Michigan Leadership Academy, the Student-Athlete Ambassador Program, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and the Center for Leadership Development and Career Preparation Committee.
