Centre College Men's Lacrosse

Sharbaugh took over as Centre's head men's lacrosse coach in the summer of 2014 after previous stops as an assistant coach at Gettysburg College, York College, and Eastern University. Sharbaugh comes to Centre from Gettysburg, a program with a strong national reputation that compiled an 18-14 overall record during his two seasons there. During his time at Gettysburg, Sharbaugh served as the team's offensive coordinator while handling recruiting, scouting, film breakdown, and overseeing academic programs. He also had a role with the school's athletic communications office when lacrosse was out of season. Prior to his coaching stint at Gettysburg, Sharbaugh also held coaching positions at York College and Eastern University, where he was also a four-year starter and two-year team captain during his playing career. "We are thrilled to welcome Dan Sharbaugh to the Centre family as our new head men's lacrosse coach," said Brad Fields, Centre's director of athletics. "Dan has a great lacrosse pedigree, both as a standout Division III player as well as having coached now at three different Division III institutions. York and Gettysburg are two top 25 programs, and while at Eastern as a player and a coach Dan helped lay the foundation for a young program to blossom into the conference power it is today. "Even more important than his pedigree is who Dan is as a person. Dan is of the highest character and will take seriously his role of mentoring the young men that come through the Centre lacrosse program, which makes him a great fit for Centre College." Sharbaugh was also appreciative of Centre for giving him his first opportunity as a head coach.  "First and foremost I would like to thank president (John) Roush, athletic director Brad Fields, and the rest of the search committee for this tremendous opportunity," Sharbaugh said. "I see a bright future for lacrosse at Centre College, the school holds its student athletes to a high standard on the field and in the classroom." At Centre, Sharbaugh will take over a program that has experienced great success in its first four seasons of competition. Centre has posted a 39-21 record since beginning play in 2010, and has reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last two seasons. The Colonels have also enjoyed success in each of their first two seasons in the Southern Athletic Association, going 12-2 in conference play during that stretch while winning a share of the 2013 regular season title and the 2014 SAA Tournament. Sharbaugh hopes to lead Centre's team to even more lacrosse success, and that as the game continues to grow and advance, so will Centre's program and the SAA conference.
