Head Coach
Lloyd embarks on her 23rd season atop the softball program at Chapman, she stands alone atop the Panthers' leaderboard for all-time coaching wins. She recorded her 535th career victory in March 2013, surpassing her father Lisle as Chapman's all-time winningest coach. Janet and her dad (who passed away in 2002) have amassed nearly 1,100 head coaching wins in 32 years as a tandem. After becoming co-head coach in 1995, then assuming sole responsibility in 1999, the Panthers developed a reputation as one of the top Division III programs in the nation. Chapman made the playoffs 12 times in a 14-year span (1995-2008), earning seven regional championships and a national championship (1995) along the way. Twice (2003 and '05) Lloyd and her staff have been named West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. The accomplishments of Janet's players are staggering: 79 All-Region selections, 23 All-Americans, 25 Academic All-District selections and three Academic All-Americans. In 2013, the Panthers entered new territory as they joined the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Lloyd's team did not miss a beat, posting 24 wins in back-to-back years and earning a berth in the SCIAC Tournament in both seasons. Janet came to Chapman as a player in 1983, transferring from Cal State Fullerton, then joined the coaching staff full-time in 1985 as an assistant to her father, Lisle. She earned All-America honors at Fullerton, leading the nation in home runs two straight seasons and leading the Titans to a third-place finish in the College World Series. She still ranks ninth in Titans history with a .481 career slugging percentage and her 15 home runs in 1981 are second most in a single-season. During her playing days at Chapman, she was also named to the All-America team.

Janet Lloyd '84
Head Coach
Janet Lloyd enters her 32nd season at the helm of the Chapman softball program in 2025-26. She is one of the winninges Division III coaches of all-time, ranking in the top-10 for wins among active Division III head coaches. With 781 career wins, she could become just the 19th head coach in Division III history and ninth active Division III coach to reach 800 wins. Chapman softball has risen to a perennial leader in the SCIAC as the Panthers have played in five consecutive SCIAC Tournament championship games, winning two of them (2022 and 2025). In 2024, the Panthers earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. Lloyd's Panthers were back on the national scene with a trip to the regional final in 2025 but fell 5-3 to eventual World Series participant Linfield. Chapman's three trips to the NCAA postseason in four years recaptured the dominance of the program from the mid-90s until the early 2000s. In 2013, the Panthers entered new territory as they joined the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Lloyd's team did not miss a beat, posting 24 wins in back-to-back years and earning a berth in the SCIAC Tournament in both seasons. In 2022, Lloyd posted her best record in 15 years winning 28 games, in 2007 Lloyd and the Panthers finished with a record of 29-13, and leading the Panthers to the Seguin Regional against Texas Lutheran. Lloyd reached the tournament after securing a SCIAC title, the first since joining the conference in 2013. In 2017, Lloyd became the first Panther coach in any sport to reach 600 career wins. With the accomplishment under her belt, she led the Panthers on a late season surge back into the SCIAC Tournament for the third time in five years. She led the Panthers back to the SCIAC Tournament in 2019, finishing third in the conference standings. The 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the pandemic delayed the start of the 2021 season, Lloyd led the Panthers to a second place finish in the SCIAC and advanced to the SCIAC Tournament championship game for the first time. Lloyd came to Chapman as a player in 1983, transferring from Cal State Fullerton, then joined the coaching staff full-time in 1985 as an assistant to her father, Lisle. Curt Wilson
Head Coach
As the head diving coach for the University of California at Irvine for nine seasons, the UCI Dive Team had an impressive 38 wins and only 2 losses in the Conference Championships from 2000 through 2009.As a diver, Curt Wilson is a two-time CIF High School Diving Champion and five-time California State Champion. Curt competed in the NCAA Championships for both the University of Michigan and UCLA and became a Pac-10 3-meter diving champion. He has also competed Nationally and Internationally in the sport of diving. Curt graduated from Pitzer College in California with a BA in Organizational Studies and continues to be the Director - Head Coach for the Crown Valley Divers since 1989, where he has helped facilitate scholarships and admittance to most of the preferred Colleges and Universities in America.Curt has worked with many Olympic and International Coaches as both diver and coach. Curt was the Team Coach for the 2000 East-West All Star International Team that traveled to Europe and successfully won the Amsterdam Cup. Curt has done many diving commercials and was recruited as the Head Coach and Diving expert for the Fox Television Special, “Stars in Danger: High Diving”. Formerly a member of United States Diving’s Board of Directors, President of the Professional Diving Coaches Association, President of the Southern Pacific Association and Rules Chair for Junior Olympic Diving.Curt has also participated on the selection committee for High School All-American Divers and continues to help local divers achieve High School Diving All American success.

Monica Colunga '83
Assistant Coach
Monica has been assisting Lloyd as a part-time volunteer assistant since the 1995 championship season. Following her retirement as Principal, she transitioned to a full-time role as a volunteer assistant. Colunga’s primary responsibilities are working with the outfield, battery, mindset/leadership, and recruiting. Dr. Colunga earned a Bachelor of Arts in Movement and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training and a Teaching Credential in Physical Education from Chapman University in 1983. While at Chapman, Monica competed on the Track and Field team her senior year and earned “Most improved Player Award.” Dr. Colunga retired as Principal of Irvine High School, where she served from fall 2007 to spring 2024. Before her tenure at Irvine High, Dr. Colunga spent 20 years at University High School in Irvine, where she held various roles, including Athletic Director, Activities Director, Certified Athletic Trainer, classroom teacher, coach, and Assistant Principal. She first joined Irvine High School as an Assistant Principal during the 2006-2007 school year. In addition to her work in secondary education, Dr. Colunga was an adjunct faculty member at Chapman University from 1997 to 2002 and currently serves as a part-time instructor for the UCI Division of Continuing Education’s Pre-Administration Credential Program. Dr. Colunga obtained a supplemental teaching credential in Spanish in 1987 and completed a Master of Arts in Education at Azusa Pacific University in 1995. Additionally, she earned her Tier I and Tier II Administrative Credentials from UCI and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership through the UCI/UCLA doctoral program in 2011. In July 2022, Dr. Colunga completed the Harvard Business School Online Certificate Program in Management and Leadership. Throughout her career, Dr. Colunga has been an active leader in High School Athletics and in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF). She served as an At-Large Representative and later as the Orange County Representative with the CIF Southern Section. During her time as the Orange County Representative, Dr. Colunga also served as the Principal Representative with the Orange County Athletic Directors Association. Additionally, she held a six-year term as President-Elect, President, and Past-President for the Federated Council of the State CIF, as well as a seven-year term in the same roles for the CIF Southern Section. Currently, she serves as a State CIF Appeals Officer. Dr. Colunga is also a member of the UCI Division of Continuing Education Advisory Committee for Administrative Service Credentialing and was a founding member of the Concordia University, Irvine Hispanic & Minority Leadership Advisory Board.

Jason Willman '22
Assistant Coach
Willman enters his first year as the first full-time assistant coach in program history, and his second year on the coaching staff after serving as a volunteer coach for the Panthers during the 22-23 season. During Willman’s first season as a volunteer coach with the Panthers swim and dive team, the team saw immense growth, with the team setting a record 39 school records on the season and the men’s team placing 4th in the SCIAC, the highest ever finish for the men in program history by two places. The women’s team defeated Pomona-Pizer in a dual meet for the first time in program history, and the men’s team defeated California Lutheran and Redlands in their respective dual meets and at the SCIAC championship meet for the first time ever in Willman’s first year on the coaching staff. A Chapman University alumnus, Willman competed for the Chapman Swim and dive team for three years. He served as captain during the 2020-21 season and was named to the SCIAC All-Academic team for the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons. Prior to attending Chapman University, Willman attended and swam for Mt. San Antonio College for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. During his time at Mt SAC, Willman garnered All-American status, and was awarded the Academic All-State award. During the summer of 2023, Willman served as a counselor and coach for the Longhorn Swim and Dive Camps at the University of Texas in Austin. While in Austin, he worked alongside Olympic swimmers and world-renowned coaches such as Eddie Reese, Carol Capitani, Wyatt Collins, Mitch Dalton, and Matt Scoggin. Willman also works as a swim coach at the Golden West Swim Club in Huntington Beach.

Assistant Coach
Suzy Brazney joined the Chapman coaching staff in 2017. She brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience at the collegiate and international levels.Brazney recently retired from Golden West College after 30 years; 18 of those as the head coach. She has also coached for USA Softball at varying levels. She has been an assistant coach on multiple USA Jr. National teams that went on to win gold medals at the Jr. World Championships and Junior Pan American Games. She also served as an assistant with the USA National Team’s gold medal teams at the Japan Cup and a Pan American qualifying tournament. She continues to be in the coaching pool as USA softball prepares for the upcoming Olympic Games in 2020.As a player, Brazney was a two-time All-American at Cal Poly Pomona. She has been inducted into the ASA and the O.C. Softball Hall of Fame as well as Cal Poly Pomona’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
