Corry Irvin

Head Coach

Corry Irvin was been named head coach of the women’s basketball team on April 10, 2024. Irvin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Cougars, featuring a 26-year career throughout various levels of basketball.  The Elgin, Illinois native’s most recent role as assistant coach at Mississippi State University saw her help guide the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament in her first season at MSU after a three-year hiatus. Her leadership, coupled with her extensive recruiting prowess, contributed to the team's success, including a top-ranked class in 2023. Irvin has deep roots in basketball across the state of Illinois. Prior to her tenure at Mississippi State, she served as head coach at Saint Xavier University, leading the Cougars to back-to-back Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships with a record of 46-8 (.851) and 32-1 (.969) in the CCAC. Her remarkable coaching career also includes an illustrious stint at Whitney Young High School in Chicago, where she solidified the Dolphins as a powerhouse where she had a career record of 449-77 (.854) and won three Illinois State Championships (2008, 2012 and 2014) during her 18-year tenure.  Irvin got her start in coaching as an assistant on Doug Bruno’s staff, the legendary DePaul coach,, where she helped the Blue Demons win a combined 36 games over three seasons (1999-2001). Irvin led DePaul’s recruiting efforts and oversaw the team's preseason workout programs during her stint in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood Irvin played collegiately at Fresno State following a legendary career at Larkin High School in Elgin. At Fresno State, she appeared in 107 games and was named an All-Western Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in 1995-96. She concluded her Bulldog career ranked No. 10 in program history in made field goals (360), No. 9 in rebounds (510) and No. 5 in blocked shots (55). As a standout prep athlete, she concluded her high school career as Larkin’s all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots, while also ranking second in scoring. Irvin was the 1992 Courier News Player of the Year and a 2007 inductee into the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame as a player. Irvin earned her bachelor's degree from Fresno State in 1996. She holds two master's degrees from the University of Phoenix in curriculum development (2008) and special education (2010).

Alexis Lloyd

Alexis Lloyd joined Chicago State University as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach on September 19, 2025, bringing a strong background in coaching, recruiting, and player development to the Cougars program. Lloyd returns to Chicago after gaining experience at multiple levels of collegiate basketball and youth development. Prior to Chicago State, Lloyd served as an Assistant Basketball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Wagner University, where she helped lead practices, scout opponents, develop game strategies, and support student-athletes academically while maintaining NCAA compliance. She also spent time at Texas Southern University under Hall of Fame coach Cynthia Cooper, while adding youth coaching and program management experience with Showcase Basketball. As a standout player, Lloyd starred at University of Southern California, where she was a member of the Trojans’ 2014 Pac-12 Championship team and NCAA Tournament squad. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally in Europe. She was also inducted into the Illinois High School Hall of Fame as part of the historic 2012 Whitney Young team. Lloyd earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science Psychology from USC in 2016 and returns home to Chicago bringing her experience, leadership, and hometown pride to the continued growth of Chicago State women’s basketball.

Kiara Carter

Assistant Coach

Kiara Carter was named as an assistant women's basketball coach at Chicago State on May 14, 2024. Carter, a former player at Michigan State, spent one season at Eastern Illinois and a season at Wagner before joining the Cougars. She helped coach both teams to .500+ conference records in her two previous season, serving as the program's recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator.   Carter attended at Homewood-Flossmoor High School before going on to play at Michigan State where she was part of the Spartans 2016 & 2017 NCAA Tournament teams and the 2018 WNIT team. Carter played AAU basketball for the Mac Irvin Lady Fire and later coached with the program with the U15 and U17 programs. In 2021, she helped lead the team to the U15 LBI Michigan Madness title.   She joined the college coaching ranks as an assistant coach at St. Xavier University in Chicago. She helped lead the NAIA school to a 48-8 record over two seasons including a 32-1 mark in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The school won a pair of CCAC conference titles and, in 2020-21, made the NAIA National Tournament.   Carter then coached for one season at John Carroll University as the team posted a 23-5 record, including a 15-2 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference. John Carroll reached the OAC Championship game and earned a bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. The program finished the year ranked No. 7 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25.   As a coach, Carter has assisted three NAIA All-Americans, two Division III All-Americans and two All-NEC players at Wagner.   Carter earned her bachelor's degree from Michigan State in 2018 and a master's degree from Mercy College in 2020.

Tim Webb

Assistant Coach

Tim Webb was named as an assistant women's basketball coach at Chicago State on May 1, 2025.    Webb Receiving his bachelor’s in Business Management from Rochester University in 2000 and his master’s in Sport Management from Central Michigan in 2002, Tim Webb joined the Oakland Golden Grizzlies coaching staff in 2022, bringing 23 years of coaching and scouting experience with him.    Beginning his coaching career in 2000 as a boys Coach at what was then Pontiac Northern High School, Webb helped guide the Huskies to consecutive Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class A State Championships in his first two years with the program.    After seven seasons in his role at Pontiac Northern, he became a head coach taking the boys’ job with the nearby Auburn Hills Avondale Yellow Jackets, who reside in the Oakland Activities Association (OAA), the same league the Huskies competed in.    Spending four years at Avondale from 2007-11, which saw him capture OAA White Division Coach of the Year honors in his second season after piloting the Yellow Jackets to an 18-5 (11-2) record, Webb added another set of professional responsibilities to his plate in 2009, becoming an advanced scout for the Women’s National Basketball Association’s (WNBA) Minnesota Lynx.    Continuing with the Lynx until 2011 and adding stints with the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2011-13 and the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) G-League Bakersfield Jam from 2013-14, Webb has totaled five years as an advanced scout and video coordinator at the professional level.    Returning to high school basketball in 2014, this time in the girls’ game at Detroit Country Day, Webb won three more state titles, collecting Class B crowns in 2015, 2017 and 2018.    Succeeding Orlando as the Yellowjackets’ head coach following his retirement, Webb coached nine National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I student-athletes during his time at Detroit Country Day, including his daughter, Kaela Webb, the team’s star point guard during their three state championship runs.    With Kaela playing collegiately for Detroit Mercy after two seasons with the Providence Friars, which saw her earn Big East All-Freshman Team honors in 2018-19, the Titans added Webb as an assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and guard development coach in 2020. Averaging 17.7 points and 2.2 assists per game under her father’s tutelage, Kaela earned a spot on the All-Horizon League Third Team as a junior in 2020-21.    In 2021-22, Webb was the associate head coach for the Madonna Crusaders in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), helping steer the program to their first postseason appearance in seven years.    A standout point guard himself for the Pontiac Central Chiefs, Webb further his academic and athletic careers at Rochester College (now Rochester University), making four-straight National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) Final Fours, highlighted by a National Championship in 1997. Individually, Webb was named an NCSAA All-American in 2000.
