Mitchell Fedorka
Head Coach
Mitchell Fedorka enters his ninth season with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team in 2025-26, including his sixth as the head coach. He served an interim head coach in 2020-21 during the pandemic, before being appointed to the permanent position in February of 2022. In his first two full seasons as the head coach, Fedorka led the Stags to two dominant SCIAC titles and two third-place finishes at the NCAA Championships. In 2022, the Stags won all three of the league's events by a combined total of over 30 strokes, including eight strokes at the league championship in April, when he also helped coach Yuefeng (Michael) Ma to an individual title. CMS then went on to finish third at the NCAA Division III Championships, marking the second-highest finish in program history behind the national title season of 2016. CMS repeated those feats in 2023, with Vikram Chatterjee earning third-team All-America honors to lead the way. In 2025, Fedorka coached the Stags to the SCIAC title with a -22 team score on the third and final round, as they came back from 13 strokes down to win by seven. Ma earned his third individual title and third SCIAC Athlete of the Year Award, before going on to finish 14th at nationals. Fedorka became the interim head coach after three seasons as an assistant with the Stags, and was at the helm of the program during the pandemic, helping CMS win the first SCIAC regular season tournament in February of 2020, and then keeping a roster in tact that was able to dominate in the fall of 2021, winning both of its events by substantial margins. As a collegiate player, Fedorka finished second in the NCAA Division III Championships as a junior in 2009, tying for the individual title after 72 holes before ending as the runner-up after a playoff, helping the Leopards to a second-place finish as a team. He earned the Jack Nicklaus Award as the top player in all of NCAA Division III that season, receiving his honor from Nicklaus at the 2009 Memorial Tournament. He was also the Lee Fulmer Award winner as the SCIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Year, capturing the league championships in a sudden death playoff after shooting a six-under round. Fedorka also finished as the runner-up at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships, finishing behind only Tain Lee of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps by three strokes. He was inducted to the La Verne Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017, just seven years after graduating. He still finds time to compete in the offseason, including earning a top-10 finish (tied for eighth) out of over 80 golfers at the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur Championship in August of 2022. A native of Upland, Fedorka served as an assistant coach of the La Verne women's golf program prior to joining the staff at CMS.
