Edward Cartee

Head Coach

Edward Cartee is entering his third season as the head coach of the CMS men's soccer program in 2025, after spending the previous decade as an assistant coach with Division III power Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. In 2024, his second year at the helm, he guided CMS to a SCIAC Tournament title and a 16-4-3 final record. The Stags won an NCAA Regional by defeating host No. 5 Colorado College, to match the program's deepest tournament run since 1985, equaling the Sweet 16 appearance of the 2019 squad. He also led CMS to an 8-3-6 record in his first season at the helm in 2023 and his record at CMS now stands at 24-7-9 (a .713 winning percentage). During his tenure at Trinity under head coach Paul McGinlay, Cartee helped the Tigers to a combined record of 189 wins, 29 losses and 16 ties, good for an .842 winning percentage. He helped Trinity to three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and to 20-win seasons for five straight seasons from 2013-17. The 2021 Tigers also lost only one game in the entire season, finishing 16-1-2. Overall in Cartee's eleven seasons, he helped lead the team to ten conference championships and ten NCAA Tournament berths, advancing to the sectionals (Sweet Sixteen) six times in addition to the three quarterfinals appearances. In 2018, the Trinity coaching staff was recognized as the West Region Coaching Staff of the Year. While serving as an assistant at Trinity, Cartee was also simultaneously the head coach of the boys soccer team at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, where he compiled a .738 winning percentage over 11 seasons.  His teams won five state championships, including four in a row from 2017-20, and reached the state finals again this past month. Cartee earned numerous high school coaching awards with Central Catholic. United Soccer Coaches elected him as the Texas Private/Parochial Coach of the Year for three straight seasons. He was named the San Antonio Express-News Boys Soccer Coach of the Year in 2017, and the 2014 TAPPS Division I Coach of the Year.  He was also selected for the 2017-18 class of the prestigious 30-Under-30 Program by United Soccer Coaches.   Cartee played for Trinity from 2005-08 before joining the coaching staff four years after graduation. He helped the Tigers reach the national finals as a junior, and the national quarterfinal as a freshman and senior. He also played for the Bradenton Academics in the Premier Development League from 2005-10, helping his team to the national semifinals in 2009, and played for Taipei City FC in Taiwan, which he helped to a league title. Cartee holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" License, and was a summa cum laude graduate of Trinity with a triple major in history, Chinese and Spanish. He earned ESPN Academic All-America distinction as a senior, and went on to attend National Taiwan Normal University in Taiwan with a Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship, participating in the university's postgraduate language immersion program.

Parker Roberson

Assistant Coach

Parker Roberson joins the CMS men's soccer staff as an assistant coach for the 2025 season, while also assisting with the athletic operations staff.  Roberson joins CMS after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Point Loma Nazarene. During his tenure, he helped PLNU to two straight PacWest conference championships in 2023 and 2024. The 2023 title was the first in program history, a feat that they were able to duplicate the following year.  While with Point Loma Nazarene, Roberson's roles included assisting in preparing and developing collegiate soccer athletes technically and tactically, as well as aligning team training and sport performance programming with including movement analysis and individualized strength and conditioning. He also simultaneously worked at Olympus Movement Performance as a sport performance coach in Vista California since March of 2024.  In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Roberson also has youth coaching experience with the La Jolla Impact Soccer Club since March of 2024, serving as the head coach of the B2013 and B2015 teams.  Roberson played collegiate soccer for Southern Oregon, where he graduated in 2022 with a degree in history, He went on to earn his master's in kinesiology from Point Loma Nazarene in 2024.

Christopher Martinez enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer program in 2023.  Martinez joins CMS after earning substantial coaching experience in Texas over the last four years at both the high school and club level, since graduating from Texas A&M in 2022. For the past year, Martinez has served as the director of the premier program at Urban Champions Academy in San Antonio for the past year, while simultaneously serving as an assistant coach at Central Catholic High School. At the Urban Champions Academy, he was the head coach of the '05 boys team, where he organized and ran training sessions, and prepared for weekly matches. In his role at Central Catholic, he was responsible for scouting opponents and preparing scouting reports, while assisting on tactical preparations. He also assisted in organizing and running training sessions, pregame warm-ups, and organizing set piece personnel. Before moving to San Antonio, Martinez served three years as a head coach of the '05 Boys and '09 Boys teams at the Calvary Youth Soccer Club in College Station, where he developed, organized and ran training sessions and prepared game plan strategies against opponents.  He also had a stint in College Station as an assistant coach with the Texas A&M Mens Club Soccer team and volunteered as an assistant coach in the summer of 2021 with Corpus Christi FC, where he aided in the selection of the team roster through tryouts. Martinez graduated from Texas A&M in 2022 with a degree in political science. He holds US Soccer Federation National C and D licenses, and Grassroot licenses for 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11. He is currently enrolled in both the Coaching Credential degree program under United Soccer Coaches, and his US Soccer Federation B license. Locally, he is involved as a club coach at Legends FC.
