Matthew Heckler
Head Coach
Matthew Heckler was named the 12th head coach of the Clark University volleyball team as announced by Director of Athletics and Recreation on July 1, 2024. Heckler completed his first season in 2024. In his first season at the helm, Heckler guided the Cougars to the playoffs with 14 wins and collected seven NEWMAC wins, the most the program has had since the 2016 season, and hosted a NEWMAC Tournament Game for the first time since 2016. In NEWMAC play, Clark recorded victories against WPI, WPI, Salve Regina, Wheaton, Emerson, Babson, Mount Holyoke, and Coast Guard. Heckler coached graduate student Victoria Pastor, who reached the First Team All-NEWMAC and is currently fourth in program history with 1,059 kills. Heckler joined Clark University with a wealth of coaching experience, most recently serving as the Director of Regional Volleyball at Mill City Volleyball Club in Lowell. During his tenure, Heckler coached national-level club volleyball teams, developed comprehensive practice plans, and fostered a culture of excellence and sportsmanship among players and staff alike. His commitment to player welfare and skill enhancement has been instrumental in the club's success on both regional and national stages. In addition to his role at Mill City Volleyball Club, Heckler has contributed significantly to high school and collegiate volleyball. At Windham High School, he implemented tailored practice regimes aimed at holistic player development, emphasizing both athletic growth and academic success. Heckler most recently served as assistant women's volleyball coach at Rivier University for the past two seasons. He has also focused on technique refinement and injury prevention strategies for collegiate athletes. Heckler holds a Bachelor of Business Management from Rivier University and was a four-year player for the men's volleyball program.

Taylor Dunster
Assistant Coach
Taylor Dunster joins the Clark University volleyball coaching staff with a strong foundation as both a collegiate athlete and club-level coach. A four-year standout at Rivier University, Dunster excelled as both an outside hitter and libero, finishing her collegiate career with an impressive 1,049 digs, 895 kills, 136 service aces, and 97 blocks. Her versatility and competitive spirit made her a key contributor throughout her time with the Raiders. Following her playing career, Dunster transitioned into coaching, bringing energy, knowledge, and a player-focused approach to the court. She has coached at several respected club programs across Massachusetts, including Slam Volleyball Club, Mill City Volleyball Club, and is set to coach at CMASS Volleyball Club at the 18s level this upcoming season. Known for her positive and encouraging coaching style, Taylor is dedicated to helping athletes grow both as players and individuals. She fosters an environment where players feel supported and motivated to push their limits, with a strong focus on personal and athletic development. Excited to join the Clark program, Taylor looks forward to guiding players toward reaching their full potential, both on and off the court.”
