Eric Snyder
Head Coach
Snyder led the Coker men's volleyball team to their best season in program history. The Cobras finished the season with a 14-9 overall record, including a 7-4 record at home. The Navy and Gold were ranked as high as No. 23 in the NCAA Di/DII RPI poll. As a unit, Coker finished the season ranked No. 1 in DI/DII with 2.05 aces per set. It was the first NCAA statistical championship in the program's history. Individually, freshman Joao Victor Santos was named Off the Block/Springbak, Inc National Freshman of the Week and to the Freshan All-American Team. Junior Artur Cabral was named the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Player of the Month in February. He finished the season ranked No. 2 with .60 aces per set and was named a 2016 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. In his first season, Snyder led the Cobras to double-digit wins for the first time in program history. Coker's Luke Hansen and Artur Cabral were named to the 2015 Off the Block All-Independent Team. In addition, Cabral was named the 2015 Off the Block Independent Player of the Year and the Off the Block/Springbak Fan Choice National Player of the Year. Eric Snyder joined the Cobra athletic staff in January of 2015 as the first mens only volleyball coach at Coker. Snyder came to Coker after most recently serving as assistant womens volleyball coach at Kennesaw State University. Prior to that, he served as the assistant coach at Emory University where he helped guide the Eagles to the Final Four and a 34-5 record. Before coaching at Emory, he was a head coach for two years at the United States Coast Guard compiling a 44-20 record. He led the Bears to an ECAC Division III New England Championship and a share of the NEWMAC regular season championship with a record of 26-6 overall and an 8-1 record in conference play in 2011. Snyder was also a head coach at University of Mary in 2009 and Stonehill College during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns. While at Stonehill, he led the Skyhawks to a 21-11 record in 2008. It was the first time that program reached the 20-win mark since 1997. For his efforts, Snyder was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 Award List, an award that honors thirty of the up-and-coming coaches under 30 years of age in volleyball at all levels of the game. In addition to his womens coaching experience, Snyder is a very accomplished mens coach. He served as the assistant coach at the University of Findlay and at Emmanuel College. While at Emmanuel, Snyder helped guide the nationally ranked Saints to the best record in program history, 28-9, in 2011. He also coached Curtis Abram, the only All-American in Emmanuel history. Snyder played collegiate volleyball at Southern New Hampshire University where he led the Penmen to the teams first-ever New England Collegiate Volleyball League tournament appearance in 2004. He received a bachelors degree in sport management/business administration from Southern New Hampshire and holds a masters degree in business administration from Tiffin (Ohio) University.
