Tim Ryan
Head Coach
Ryan enters his 14th season as the College of Central Floridas mens basketball coach. He led the Patriots to the program's first-ever NJCAA National Basketball Championship in 2013. Coach Ryan has the longest streak of consecutive appearances in the FCSAA State Tournament with 12 appearances. Over the past 13 seasons, Coach Ryan has produced eight All-Americans, more than any other junior college in the country. Last season, Ryan led the Patriots to its 14th conference title, eighth of his career at CF, sharing a piece of the title with Daytona State College. They finished the season 23-8 overall, 6-3 in conference. Ryan also took the Patriots to its 12th consecutive state tournament, most of any team in Florida, and produced a national-best eighth NJCAA All-American in KJ Maura. Maura broke the FCSAA single-game assist record (20), finishing No. 1 in the state and nation for most assists per game (9.8) and total assists (304). As a team, CF finished No. 2 in the state for most assists per game and No. 3 for lowest defensive field goal percentage. In 2015, Ryan led the Patriots to a runner-up finish in the Mid-Florida Conference and the program's eleventh-straight FCSAA state tournament appearance. As a team, the Patriots men's basketball team finished Top 5 in the state in points per game. In 2013, Coach Ryan was asked to participate with USA basketball. He was an on-the-court coach for the 19U team in Colorado Springs at the Olympic Training Facility. The 19U team went on the win gold in Prague. A former player at New York City's Power Memorial Academy and Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Ryan's coaching career began in 1993 at Clearwater Central Catholic High School, where he spent four seasons coaching teams from the freshmen to varsity level. He was named head coach at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in 1997, and led the program to its first two Pinellas County Private School Tournament championships and the school's second and third appearances in the regional playoffs. Ryan enjoyed similar results upon his move to the college ranks. He spent three successful seasons as associate head coach at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. There he helped lead the Hawks to an average of 20 wins per season, two state tournament appearances, and a Suncoast Conference. Coach Ryan was also heavily involved in AAU with successful teams for both girls and boys. He also coached at the prestigious Five-Star Basketball Camp. Ryans work at CF extends beyond the basketball team as he is the coordinator of CFs intramural sports program and runs the popular CAMP PATRIOT basketball camp for local youth annually in December and the summer months. Ryan holds a master's degree in psychology from National-Louis University. He and his wife, JoAnne, have four children, Tim, Nicole, Veronica and Tommy.
