College of St. Benedict Women's Golf

Schomer enters his sixth season as the head golf coach at the College of Saint Benedict in 2016-17, and the future looks bright for the program as he looks to lead Saint Benedict back up to the top of the MIAC. Schomer led CSB to its ninth straight top-five finish in the MIAC in 2015. The Blazers shot a three-round total of 997 to finish fourth for the second time in the last three years. CSBs best finish under Schomer was a third-place finish in 2011, his first year as head coach. Leading the way for CSB at the conference meet and throughout the season was first year Natalie Amundson. She shot a three-round total of 234 to finish in a tie for second at the MIAC Championships, marking CSBs best individual finish since 2011. For her performance at the conference meet and throughout the year, Amundson earned All-MIAC and All-Central Region honors. Senior Lauren Wise also earned All-MIAC accolades after finishing 13 th in the final conference meet of her career. Wise was named MIAC Athlete of the Week on April 28 after shooting a career-low 72 the second-best 18-hole individual score in school history. Saint Benedict won one event in 2015-16. CSB won the Bethel Invite Sept. 12-13 after four of its top five golfers finished in the top 10, and all five finished in the top 11. CSB finished fifth at the 2014 MIAC Championships. Grace Todora took 12th and Lauren Wise and Jenna Traut both tied for 17 th . Todora and Wise both earned All-MIAC honors. Saint Benedict has won at least one tournament each year under Schomers guidance. In five seasons, he has coached eight All-MIAC athletes. Also under Schomers watch, CSB set the school record for the best 18-hole individual score in 2011 when Todora shot a 71. Cummings recorded the third-best score (73) in 2013. Kathryn Hauff scored the second-best 36-hole individual mark in CSB history (151) in 2011. As a team, CSB set the school record for 18 (313), 36 (632) and 54-hole (984) scores in 2014. Schomer served as an assistant coach for the Blazers in 2010-11. Prior to coming to CSB, he was the head boys golf coach at St. Cloud Tech High School from 2002-11. A former PGA professional, Schomer has more than 15 years of experience teaching and coaching all levels of golfers from juniors to nationally ranked amateurs. He brings a wealth of experience to CSB, collected from his accomplished mentors and life-long dedication to teaching and playing competitively. Since regaining his amateur status 10 years ago, Schomer now enjoys competing in state and national events, most notably the 2008 US Mid-Amateur Championship. In August 2014, Schomer was part of the winning Minnesota team at the Midwest Cup a tournament that brings the best players in the central U.S. together to compete in a team event. Schomer finished fifth in the 2013 MGA Mid-Amateur standings in order to be invited to play in the 2014 Midwest Cup. Individually, Schomer took second at the MPGA Mid-Amateur Championship in 2014. He also played in the state amateur tournament, the MGA Players Championship and the Mid-Players Championship.   In addition to his work at Saint Benedict, Schomer is in his 12 th  year as a Real Estate professional and currently works for RE/MAX Results of St. Cloud, Minn.
