Rachael Click

Head Coach

Clicks first four seasons, the College of Saint Benedict softball team has won 20 or more games. Click is looking to continue that success and get the Blazers back to the conference tournament as she enters her fifth season in 2017.   Click hit another coaching milestone early in 2016 when CSB beat Eastern Connecticut 10-4 in its first day of its annual Florida trip. The win marked Clicks 75th of her career and, after leading Saint Benedict to a 22-18 overall record in 2016, she is just eight wins shy of the 100-win mark with a 92-65 overall record in her first four seasons as a head coach.   Saint Benedict finished the year 10-12 and in seventh in the MIAC, and missed the leagues postseason tournament for the second year.   CSB picked up several big wins in 2016, including a 9-1, six-inning win over No. 22 Tufts, which headed into the season as the three-time defending national champion. Saint Benedict wrapped up the year with a split against No. 15 St. Kates, including a 7-3 win in Game 2 of the doubleheader.   Three athletes earned All-MIAC honors for CSB in 2016, and three more earned All-MIAC Honorable Mention. First year Kate Deming and sophomores Sara Wennerstrand and Megan Toninato both earned All-MIAC honors, and Emilie Antony, Madison Mikolich and Nicole Nelson earned honorable mention accolades. Wennerstrand and Toninato also earned All-Region Third Team honors.   Deming finished third in the MIAC with 55 hits and 21 stolen bases, set the school record for at-bats in a season (146). Wennerstrand finished second in the MIAC with 45 RBIs and tied the school record for RBIs in a season.   CSB also finished 22-18 in 2015 and went 11-11 and tied for sixth in the MIAC that same year. In 2014, Click guided CSB to its best season in 10 years. The Blazers finished 28-11 overall and 15-7 in the MIAC. During the season, CSB put together a nine-game winning streak and set six school records. Lexi Alm was named MIAC Player of the Year and an NFCA Second Team All-American.   In her first season at the helm, Click led CSB to a 20-18 overall record and an 8-12 mark in the MIAC. First year Kim Lidstone went on a 31-game hitting streak that lasted nearly the entire season and is the fourth longest streak in Division III history.   In three seasons, Click has coached nine All-MIAC athletes, 10 All-MIAC Honorable Mention selections, eight All-Region athletes (three second team, two first team and three third-team selections), one All-American and one MIAC Player of the Year. Click came to CSB from Jacksonville University where she served as an assistant coach for the Dolphins for two seasons. Prior to coaching at JU, she was an assistant at Wisconsin-Eau Claire for the 2010 season.   A 2009 Gustavus Adolphus College graduate with a degree in elementary education, Click earned Cum Laude Honors in addition to her decorated softball career.   A four-year star for the Gusties, Click was named MIAC Rookie of the Year in 2006 and received all-conference honors in all four seasons. A team captain during her senior season, she was named MIAC Player of the Year and earned All-America honors and a spot on the NCAA Championship All- Tournament team. In the 2009 season, Click led the Gusties to a MIAC title and an NCAA Regional Championship, finishing a game shy of the national championship.   Click holds Gustavus single-season records in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs, RBIs and total bases. She also holds career records in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, home runs, RBIs and total bases.   Click was named Gustavus Female Athlete of the Year in 2009 and is an NCAA Post Graduate Scholar.
