Jason Kask
Head Coach
Jason Kask begins his second year as Saints Head Nordic Skiing Coach for the 2025-26 season. Kask brings extensive experience in athlete development and coaching. His impressive background includes roles as a High Performance Coaching Assistant with USA Triathlon, Physiologist and Service Technician for US Paralympics Nordic Skiing, and Coach and Trip Leader for USA Triathlon Paratriathlon. Additionally, he has served as the Director of Athlete Development at the Sisu Foundation and Program Director at the Duluth Cross Country Ski Club. As the President and Head Coach of Superior Performance Endurance Coaching, Jason has honed his skills in guiding athletes to success. As a coach, Jason's goal is to create a high-performing and inclusive team that consistently competes at the regional and national levels. He is passionate about fostering a love for skiing and helping each athlete reach their full potential. Outside of coaching, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, and their children, Tuuli and Otto. He is an outdoor enthusiast who loves racing sailboats, camping, mountain biking, trail running, and exploring Minnesota’s lakes. Jason states, “Working with the dedicated and motivated athletes at The College of St. Scholastica is a rewarding experience. It’s great to see the reach of the program expand to the entire nation and internationally as an alumni of Saints Skiing.Working with each athlete to become the best skier they can be drives me to continue to improve my coaching and reach for new areas of improvement for the program. The resources that the College of St. Scholastica provides and the collaborations we have developed with departments such as the Exercise Physiology program continue to push our athletes to excel in sport and academics. “

Dan Szymczak
Head Coach
Dan Szymczak enters into his fourth year as the head coach for the Men's & Women's Golf programs. Under his tutelage, the Saints have produced the most successful golfers in program history in recent years, with Carissa Oberding and Connor O'Hara breaking the single season scoring average records for the women's and men's teams respectively. Szymczak, a 1998 St. Scholastica graduate, has worked professionally in the golf industry since 2016. Szymczak has an area of expertise in golf swing mechanics and instruction, teaching professionally since 2018. Szymczak earned a degree in English from St. Scholastica in 1998 and then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Counseling Studies from Capella University in 2014. After starting golf later in life, Szymczak dropped 20 strokes from his game in just three years, igniting his passion for coaching. In his first year, he led the women’s team to its best performance ever, followed by another strong season despite losing two top players. He’s coached the top two women in program history, helping them reach their peak performance. On the men’s side, his teams ranked fifth and second in program history over the past two years, with goals to reach the top by 2025. Outside of coaching, Dan enjoys teaching golf in the summer and is a music lover who plays several instruments and sings. His favorite quote, "Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out," reflects his belief in taking risks and embracing growth. Dan is committed to helping his student-athletes thrive in sports and in life. 4o mini

Sydney Brodt
Head Coach
Sydney Brodt officially begins her fist season as Head Women's Hockey Coach for the 2025-26 season. Brodt is a former NCAA Division I hockey player, playing for the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs from 2016-2020, where she was only one of two players in program history to captain the team for three seasons. After college, Brodt played professional hockey for five seasons, which included highlights such as winning the inaugural PWHL Walter Cup with the Minnesota Frost in 2024, playing in the SDHL for two seasons, winning the "SM GULD" league championship with Frölunda in 2025, and being named SDHL Most Valuable Player in 2022. Brodt also played for the Minnesota Whitecaps and was the team's captain during their final season in the PHF in 2022-23. Additionally, Brodt was a part of Team USA throughout her playing career. In 2016, she was part of the U18 World Championship team and debuted in 2018 with the senior national team and won the Four Nations Cup. She was also a member of the 2019 and 2021 Women's World Championship teams. In addition to playing for Team USA, Brodt served as an assistant coach at the 2022 U18 World Championships in Madison, WI and helped the team earn a silver medal. Throughout her professional playing career, she was an assistant coach for Hamline University for three seasons. She helped lead Hamline to the MIAC playoffs three seasons in a row, signifying a top-five league finish. During her coaching tenure, she had multiple athletes win honors such as the MIAC Defensive Player of the Year and be finalists for the NCAA D-III Women's Hockey Player of the Year. Prior to coaching at Hamline, she was an assistant coach for Mounds View High School from 2020 to 2021.

Matt Bremer
Head Coach
Matt Bremer begins his first season as Saints Head Football Coach in 2025. In his two stints spanning eleven years with St. Scholastica, Bremer most recently led a 2024 campaign that saw the Saints finish in the top five in multiple offensive categories in the MIAC, including scoring, total yards, passing yards and red zone efficiency. This offensive output helped the Saints finish with their most MIAC wins in program history this past season. Bremer demonstrated a commitment to ensuring that his athletes succeed in the classroom and on the field. The 2024 team set a GPA record of 3.26 and were active members on campus and in the wider community. Over his coaching career, Bremer has presided over twelve all-conference players, five conference championships, and NCAA Division III playoff appearances. He was recently inducted into the St. Scholastica Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2011 football team staff. Additionally, he has been asked to speak at multiple coaching clinics and was honored at the AFCA National Convention. "I am thrilled to continue the work that has already been done to build and grow Saints Football,” said Bremer before the 2025 season. “In my time at St. Scholastica, our program has always been one of service. I look forward to continuing to serve our players, alumni, staff and The College of St. Scholastica community in this role. I am extremely proud of what those associated with our program have built in our short history. We will continue to be leaders and winners, not only on the field but also in the classroom and the community.” Bremer resides in Duluth with his wife, Stephanie and their two children, Titus and Selah. Prior Experience and Accomplishments: In 2023, Bremer was promoted to Assistant Head Coach. Bremer, who was an assistant on the CSS staff from 2010 thru the 2015 season, coached the Wide Receivers from 2010-13. He guided five All-UMAC performers during that span. In 2014-15, Bremer coached the Defensive Backs, where the Saints had seven All-UMAC honorees. He also was the program's recruiting coordinator for four seasons and the Co-Special Teams Coordinator in 2015. In his time as an assistant, the Saints were 48-3 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action and the team made five consecutive NCAA Division III Playoff appearances. Following his stint at St. Scholastica, Bremer moved on to his alma mater Crown College where he was the team's Offensive Coordinator for three seasons. In the summer of 2019, Bremer and his family moved back to Duluth and he spent last fall as an assistant on University of Minnesota Duluth football staff where he coached outside linebackers and assisted on special teams. Bremer was a three-time All-UMAC selection while playing quarterback at Crown from 2004-07. He graduated from Crown with a degree in Sport Management and Biblical Studies.

McKenzie Revering
Assistant Coach
McKenzie Revering enters her first season as Saints Women's Hockey Assistant Coach for the 2025-26 season. Revering, a native of Alexandria, Minn., joins the Saints after an impressive playing career and years of developing top hockey talent. She played NCAA Division I hockey for the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs from 2017-2021, serving as team captain in her senior year. Competing at one of the nation's premier programs, she gained valuable experience in leadership and high-level competition. Following her collegiate career, Revering returned to Alexandria, where she taught and coached at Alexandria High School for four years. She has also been heavily involved with Northern Elite and Minnesota High Performance Hockey, working with some of the state's best high school players.

Colin Bailey
Assistant Coach
Colin Bailey was hired as the men's hockey Assistant Coach in September of 2022. Bailey will be entering into his fourth season with CSS men’s hockey during the 2025-26 campaign. During the 2024-25 season, the Saints reached as high as No. 17 in the National Polls, and finished with four All-MIAC players, with Wyatt Wurst winning MIAC Rookie of the Year and also being named a AHCA Second-Team All-American. In his first season behind the Saints bench, Bailey served as the primary recruiting coordinator, defense coach, and ran the Saints penalty kill which finished with an impressive .904% success rate, good for 6th in the NCAA. Bailey assisted the Saints to an overall record of 17-7-3 (.685), a MIAC conference record of 13-1-2 (.875) and St. Scholastica’s first MIAC Regular Season Championship in any sport. Bailey's efforts during the 2022-23 season helped earn Head Coach Dave Williams his first ever MIAC Coach of the Year award. Bailey also helped coach 3 CCM/AHCA All-American’s while guiding senior defensemen, Alec Severson to his first MIAC All-Conference selection. A native of Wausau, Wisconsin, Bailey moved to Duluth from his hometown where he was most recently the Head Coach for the Wausau Cyclones of the North American 3 Hockey League. Bailey began his career in Wausau as an Assistant Coach before being elevated to the Head Coach position in 2018. During his time in Wausau, Bailey elevated the Cyclones program from a record of 6-33-1 to a program best 21-24-1-1, which included the first playoff appearance in franchise history. During that time, he also served as a regional scout for the Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Bailey began his career working with both the bantam and high school programs of the Northern Lakes Youth Hockey program located in Breezy Point, MN, before moving on to the junior ranks. Bailey currently resides in Superior, Wisconsin where you can find him and his wife, Lexie, enjoying the area with their two dogs, Huey and Lula.

CJ Butt
Coach
CJ Butt enters his first season as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the saints in 2025. He also serves as the team's recruiting coordinator. Before joining the Saints, Butt most recently worked with the Drake Bulldogs as a defensive backs coach and video coordinator and before that as a defensive assistant from 2022-2023. During his time at Drake, he helped coach the Bulldogs to back to back Pioneer Football League titles, resulting in two playoff appearances. Previously, Butt had a two-year stint at South Dakota State as a defensive graduate assistant primarily working with the Jackrabbit linebackers from 2020-2022. He helped coach SDSU to a Missouri Valley Football Conference championship and an appearance in the 2020 FCS National Title game. Butt later aided the Jackrabbits during their run to an FCS playoffs semi-finals appearance in the fall of 2021, while coaching a pair of All-American linebackers. The Shrewsbury, Massachusetts native was also a graduate assistant at Sacred Heart from 2018-2020. While with the Pioneers, he worked with the linebacker group and served as video coordinator, playing a part in SHU's 2018 NEC Championship. As a coach in professional football ranks, Butt worked with the defensive backs of the Arizona Rattlers in the spring of 2018 while also carrying the title of video and scouting intern. Butt graduated from Kent State in 2017 with a degree in sports administration. He currently resides in the Duluth area with his fiancée Bethany.

Jon Bolme
Coach
Jon Bolme enters his fifth season on the St. Scholastica football staff in 2025. Bolme comes over from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College where he was an assistant football coach the past two years. The Bookston, Minnesota native attended Fond du Lac CC and currently pursuing a degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Bolme leads the lockdown group of Defensive Backs and continues as Video Coordinator for the Saints this season.

Luke Hietala

Luke Hietala enters his second season on the Saints coaching staff. During the 2024 season, wide receiver Ricky Weber earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention under his tutelage. The Saints finished the 2024 season top five in the multiple passing related categories: Passing Yards (5th) Fewest Interceptions (2nd) 1st Downs (3rd) Before joining St. Scholastica, Hietala graduated from the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities with a Bachelors degree in sports management with a minor in coaching. Hietala, originally from Duluth, now once again resides in the city he calls home.
