College of the Canyons Women's Soccer

Lundin enters his eighth season at the helm of the College of the Canyons womens soccer program, and 11th season overall at the college, in 2016. He began his tenure at COC as an assistant coach in 2006, sharing duties between both the mens and womens soccer programs.  In his seven years as head coach of the womens team Lundin has recorded a winning record each season, while leading the program to a combined record of 98-27-26 including a run of five consecutive Western State Conference (WSC) Championships in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. As a result, Lundin has been named the WSC Coach of the Year in four of the past five seasons, most recently in 2015. Additionally, the Cougars ended the 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons as a nationally ranked community college soccer program. In 2014, Canyons was also named a National Academic Team Award Winner. Under Lundins direction, 29 players from the COC womens soccer program gone on to continue their playing careers at four-year schools. A former athlete in his own right, Lundin is a graduate of nearby Bakersfield High School where he lettered in soccer, baseball and football. He also served as a captain of his soccer team and helped lead the Drillers win back-to-back Sequoia League titles, while making two CIF Semi-Final playoff appearances. Lundin was named Bakersfield All-Area Player of the Year his senior year, and Bakersfield High School Athlete of the Year.  As a youth player, Lundin played in US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program for three years in the regional player pool. From 1994 to 1998 Lundin played for the Bakersfield Heat club team. Lundin is a graduate of California State University, Northridge, where he earned a bachelors degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in physical education, and a masters degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology. He also holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a Certificate from AC Milan for completing the Milan Academy Formational School in Milan, Italy. Lundin is the co-founder of FC Valencia Soccer Club in Santa Clarita where he serves on the executive board, coaches teams and has created a Youth Development Program for children ages 2 to 8. Lundin is the former vice president and director of coaching for AC Milan Soccer Academy, having served in that position from 2010 to 2012. He has held head coach positions for a variety of teams and organizations including the Hart High School varsity womens team, the SCV Magic and the AC Milan USA Academy. Lundin and his wife, Susan, reside in Castaic with their four children Grace, Anneliese, Kieran, and Gabrielle. Bio current as of Aug. 2016

Martinez begins his fourth season as an assistant coach for the College of the Canyons womens soccer team.  His responsibilities include assisting the head coach in player and program development, training, conditioning, drills, coaching, recruiting, coordinating team activities, and other duties as assigned. Martinez started his soccer career as an international player in Ecuador, eventually playing professionally for Deportivo Cuenca (First Division), on the U17 National Team and with the Universidad de Cuenca.  After his playing career Martinez discovered his passion for coaching. He now has more than 17 years of coaching experience in the sport. Martinez has worked as the head coach of a variety of entities at the professional, club and high school levels, including stints with the Santa Clarita Blue Heat FC, Golden Valley High School and the North Valley Soccer Club. Martinez is the co-founder of the FC Valencia soccer club, which hosts 12 youth teams in the Santa Clarita area. He is also the head coach of two FC Valencia teams. He has also earned a professional level United States Soccer Federation National Coaching License. In addition, Martinez recently traveled to Italy to work with the coaching staffs of the Italian National team, Inter Milan, and AC Milan in a quest to continue his coaching education.  In his spare time, Martinez enjoys following all levels of international soccer, running, playing the FIFA video game, walking his dog, hiking and traveling.  Martinez resides in Valencia with his wife, Claudia, and together they have four children. Bio Ellen Blankenship enters her fourth season as an assistant coach with the College of the Canyons women’s soccer program in 2025. Blankenship has worked with a number of local high school and club soccer programs during a coaching career that has spanned more than 20 years. She holds a United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ license, with plans to pursue her ‘A’ licensure in the near future. Blankenship is also a former high school teacher.  She attended Saugus High School and was a four-sport student-athlete (tennis, soccer, basketball, track & field), earning a number of All-League and All-CIF honors. Blankenship was later inducted into the Centurion Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school, she attended Pitzer College and was a dual-sport athlete and a student athletic trainer for the Sagehens. She played soccer and threw discus and shot put for the track & field program, earning all SCIAC honors in both sports. Blankenship was later inducted in to the Sagehen Athletic Hall of Fame.  Blankenship holds a bachelor’s degree in German from Pitzer, and a master’s degree in Education from the University of La Verne.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, the idea of travel, and re-watching “Ted Lasso” as often as possible.   —Bio current as of Aug. 2025
