Clay Timmons
Head Coach
Timmons begins his first season as interim head coach at College of the Canyons, and his 12th season overall with the womens volleyball program. Prior to taking over head coach responsibilities, Timmons served as an assistant for 11 seasons under longtime head coach Lisa Hooper. During that time he helped guide the Lady Cougars to three straight Western State Conference, South titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Timmons also coaches club volleyball with the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA), North division in Santa Clarita. His team, which competes in the 18s age division both regionally and nationally, has also enjoyed tremendous success in recent years, including a fifth place finish at the Junior National Championships in 2015. A graduate of Valencia High School, Timmons was a member of the schools first California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Championship mens volleyball team in 2003, having played alongside fellow COC assistant coach Nathan Sparks. Timmons later played on the mens volleyball team at Santa Monica College, helping his team reach the state semi-finals in 2006. He then went on to earn a bachelors degree in exercise science from California State University, Northridge in 2009. Timmons is also an adjunct faculty member in the colleges physical education and kinesiology department. In his free time, Timmons enjoys playing tennis and beach volleyball, eating sushi, hiking, going to the beach and being outdoors. He resides in Valencia. Bio current as of Aug. 2016

Lisa Hooper
Coach
Hooper begins her 19th year at the helm of the College of the Canyons volleyball team. Along with her coaching responsibilities, she teaches kinesiology, volleyball, stretching and health classes and also serves on various committees. Over the past 18 seasons at COC, she has recorded a 256-147 overall record, with four Western State Conference (WSC) championships and a state tournament appearance in 2007. She is also a four-time WSC Coach of the Year honoree, having taken home the award in 1999, 2000, 2013 and 2014 while also being nominated for regional coach of the year in 1999. Each season Hoopers teams continue to improve, with the COC volleyball program having been ranked among the top-25 teams in the state for 13 consecutive seasons. In 2008, her team was named the Scholar Athlete team by the California Community College Athletic Association. The honor is awarded to a sports team that had at least a combined GPA of 3.0 and demonstrated better-than-average accomplishments in intercollegiate athletic competition. Hooper has acted as an executive board member for the California Community College Womens Volleyball Coaches Association. She earned her bachelor of science degree with an emphasis in sports nutrition from Pepperdine in 1992 and her masters degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology from Long Beach State in 1997. A graduate from nearby Canyon High School, Hooper was an All-Golden League, All-CIF and All-Santa Clarita Valley player in high school. She resides in Saugus with husband, Garrett, and daughter, Kira and twins, Noah and Sophie. Bio current as of Aug. 2015
