Kelyn Freedman

Head Coach

Kelyn Freedman enters her second season as the William & Mary lacrosse head coach.   The Tribe posted a successful first season under Freedman’s direction, as W&M’s six victories marked the most wins by a first-year head coach with the program since 2000. Additionally, Freedman led the Tribe to multiple conference wins for just the second time in the last 12 seasons.   In addition to the victories, W&M also posted one of the program’s most successful seasons statistically in recent years, as it ranked among the Tribe’s single-season top-10 lists in points per game (16.12 / 7th), points (258 / T9th), goals (185 / 10th), goals per game (11.56 / 10th), and draw controls per game (12.75 / 10th). Additionally, W&M ranked second in the CAA in ground balls per game (18.31).   Tribe standouts also benefited from Freedman’s tutelage individually, which was highlighted by Paige Gilbert who earned all-conference honors after an outstanding season that saw her rank fourth on the program’s single-season list for draw controls (60). Additionally, Kate Draddy (55 draw controls / 8th) and Ainsley Huizenga (23 assists / T9th) ranked among the program’s single-season top-10 lists. W&M also excelled in the classroom, as 30 standouts earned CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor accolades during the spring semester, while 14 members of the squad garnered W&M's Provost Award for academic excellence and 10 were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. Additionally, four Tribe standouts earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District honors. Freedman came to Williamsburg following stops at Towson, Georgetown, George Washington and Niagara. She played collegiately at Georgetown where she was a captain and an All-BIG EAST and all-region midfielder.   Freedman served as an assistant coach in the CAA at Towson in 2024 and helped the Tigers produce three All-CAA selections and a CAA All-Rookie Team pick.    Freedman spent four years on staff at her alma mater Georgetown, rising to the level of associate head coach. During her time with the Hoyas, she coached 17 All-BIG EAST players, including nine first team selections, three Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coach's Association (IWLCA) All-South honorees and one All-American. Freedman helped Georgetown to a pair of BIG EAST Tournaments, appearing in the championship game in 2022.   Her previous coaching stints included three seasons at George Washington, working with the defense, and at Niagara as an assistant coach. At Niagara, she coached the defense and transition strategy, helping the Purple Eagles finish with the third-most wins in program history. At GW, she coached three All-Atlantic-10 selections and four all-rookie team picks. In 2018, the Revolutionaries won nine games, which is the fourth most in school history.   In addition to the success on the field, Freedman also helped her student-athletes succeed in the classroom. As an assistant coach, her squads earned IWLCA Academic Squad honors on seven occasions with 29 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll selections.   Freedman earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown in marketing and management, where she played four seasons for the Hoyas.  She captained the team and was a two-time First Team All-BIG EAST and an IWLCA Second Team All-South Region midfielder during her playing career from 2011-2014.  She ranks among the program's career leaders in points (120), goals (98) and draw controls (135).  In her time at Georgetown, her teams appeared in two NCAA Tournaments.   Freedman was a two-sport athlete at Georgetown. She was a member of the Georgetown women's basketball team during her senior season in 2013-14. Freedman started her time at Niagara on the women's basketball team as a graduate student in 2014-15, before earning her master's degree in sports management in 2016.

Corrine Drost

Assistant Coach

Corrine Drost enters her first season as an assistant coach at William & Mary after joining the staff in July.   While Drost is instrumental in many aspects of the program, her primary responsibilities include serving as the defensive coordinator, goalie coach, recruiting coordinator and equipment coordinator. Additionally, she oversees player development in all areas of the field and student-athlete wellbeing.   Hiring Corrine is a great step for our program in our drive towards excellence, Fratzke said at the time of her hiring. Not only does she have extensive experience as a DI assistant coach, she has a strong moral compass and she has an incredible work ethic. I have gotten to know Corrine over the years and, while I enjoy her as a person, I have also seen her strengths as a coach in real time. Not only is she knowledgeable in the game of lacrosse, Corrine values leadership from herself and those around her. She is demanding but enthusiastic and incredibly passionate about sharing all of these things with others. I have no doubt that she will thrive within our staff, team and department!   Drost joined the Tribe staff after serving as an assistant at Drexel last season where she helped the Dragons improve their conference ranking in multiple statistical categories, including goals, assists and draw controls. Additionally, she developed and mentored two all-conference standouts and the CAA Rookie of the Year.   Hillary has been a mentor to me from afar over the last couple of years, and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to work side by side with her and Kelley to build success at William & Mary, Drost said. It is clear that there is great energy within the department and an exciting time to be at William & Mary. Samantha Huge was my administrator as a student athlete at Delaware. She hired two of my coaches who have become some of the most influential people in my life. They have given me experiences that have shaped who I am.  I hope to be able to give those same experiences to the student-athletes at William & Mary.   Prior to joining Drexels staff last season, Drost spent three seasons at her alma mater, the University of Delaware, where she helped mentor the Blue Hens offense. In addition to totaling 537 points during her three seasons, UD piled up 22 victories during her tenure.   Highlighting her time at UD was the 2015 season when the Blue Hens ranked 19th nationally in scoring margin (3.89), which represented the programs best figure since 1998, and advanced to the CAA Championships. The following year, she helped Delaware rank No. 18 in the country with a margin of 3.24 goals per game.   Drost starred on the field at Delaware from 2008-11 and finished her career with 70 goals, highlighted by 30 as a senior. She helped Delaware reach the CAA Championships twice, including a title game appearance in 2009.   Following her playing career, Drost served one season as a volunteer assistant at Delaware in 2012 before joining the coaching staff at Lafayette for two seasons. Her Lafayette teams included the 2013 squad, which stands as one of the best in recent program history and advanced to the Patriot League Tournament.
