Head Coach
Katherine Auguste, who distinguished herself as an assistant coach at both the NCAA Division I and III levels, was named head coach of the Colorado College women's basketball team on May 24, 2016. Auguste enters her 10th season leading the Tigers as the winningest coach in school history. She has 120 wins and an overall coaching record of 120-104. In the last five seasons, the Tigers have a 83-35 record. She has recruited and developed 11 players who earned 27 total all-conference honors, including McKenzee Gertz, who became Colorado College's first player to be named SCAC Player of the Year and a three-time first-team all-conference selection. In addition, Auguste coached Anna Fanelli, who led the NCAA D3 in assists her junior year and went on to earn WBCA All-America honorable mention honors that same season. Most recently, center Zoë Tomlinson became the second Tiger to earn both D3hoops and WBCA All-American honors as well as being named SCAC Player of the Year in 2024. In 2025, she was the first CC Tiger ever to win Offensive and Defensive POTY. She was named a finalist for the Josten's Trophy and was named a WBCA and D3Hoops.com All-American for the second consecutive season. Also in 2024, Healy Bledsoe was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Year, the first time in program history that CC has claimed both awards in the same year. During the 2024-25 season, Auguste led the Tigers to a program record 23 wins and made it to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history and the first time since 1990. The Tigers finished the year with a 23-4 record and won the Blue Division, claiming the first-ever regular-season conference title in team history. Other notable accomplishments during Auguste's tenure include CC's first 20-win season since the 1980-81 season, defeating No. 1 and then-undefeated Trinity University (TX) on Feb. 5, 2023 at home and being ranked third in the region as well as receiving votes in national polls during the 2023-24 season. After her first season at Colorado College, Auguste led the Tigers to three consecutive years with double-digit victories. During the 2020-21 season, CC posted a 7-3 record and a .700 winning percentage, its highest since 1980-81. Before arriving at Colorado College, Auguste spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Division I Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y., where she directed the program's recruiting efforts and coached all-Patriot League selections Josie Stockhill and Carole Harris. Auguste was recognized as part of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's inaugural "Thirty Under 30" class, which honors 30 up-and-coming coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game. Each recipient displayed a commitment to community service, mentorship and impact on others, professional manner and attitude along with association involvement. She has been a presenter at the WBCA's "So You Want to be a Coach" program and currently serves on several national committees through the WBCA. Prior to joining the Colgate program, Auguste was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division III Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. During her four seasons at Emory, the Eagles posted a 69-34 record and program-high No. 7 national ranking in 2014. Emory advanced to the Sweet 16 of the 2013 NCAA Division III tournament after winning the program's first University Athletic Association championship. Before her stint at Emory, Auguste spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Division III Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill. She helped guide the Titans to a two-year record of 58-3 and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2009. IWU claimed the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship each season. Auguste was in charge of all facets of recruiting and worked with the forwards and post players while at IWU. She directed individual summer camps and the program's WBCA "Play4Kay" efforts. In addition to her duties at IWU, Auguste also served as a compliance graduate assistant for two seasons across town at Illinois State. There, she was in charge of prospective student-athletes' initial eligibility and monitored official visits and NCAA-countable contact hours for every program. On the court, the Geneseo, Ill., native played four seasons at North Central College, a Division III program in Naperville, Ill. She served as team captain for the 2007-08 season and was a CCIW all-academic selection multiple times. Auguste earned a bachelor's degree in English and sport management from North Central in 2008 and her master's in sport management from Illinois State in 2010. Katherine is married to CC women's basketball legend Melanie Auguste, who played from 2005-09 and was the recipient of the Jostens Award for Most Outstanding Player in Division III her senior year. That same year, Melanie was named a second-team All-American by D3Hoops.com and earned honorable-mention honors from the WBCA. She was also an All-American honorable mention selection and an All-SCAC first-team and All-West Region selection during the 2007-08 season. The Auguste family resides in Colorado Springs, Co. and Portland, Or. with their dog, Loyal.

Drew Mitchell
Assistant Coach
Drew Mitchell enters his second season in 2025-26 as the assistant coach for the Colorado College women's basketball team. Mitchell joined the Tigers in the offseason before the 2024-25 season. In his first year, Mitchell helped lead the Tigers to a program-record 23 wins and their second-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the first since 1990. Along with head coach Katherine Auguste and assistant coach Lisa Guhl, Mitchell coached two-time All-American and SCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Zoë Tomlinson. Last year, CC had five players named All-SCAC selections, including Tomlinson, who earned First-Team honors, and Kayla Mackel, who was named to the Second Team. Mitchell's reputation is well-known around the Midwest coaching tree. He has spent years coaching numerous levels of basketball, from AAU to NCAA DI and DIII, a valuable experience Auguste believes will blend well with the winning culture established at CC. Mitchell was recently in a similar role at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mitchell helped lead the Kohwawks to a 21-6 record in the 2023-24 season that was capped by an appearance in the semifinals of the American River Conference Tournament. Prior to Coe, Mitchell was an assistant at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, from 2018-2020 and then coached at Eureka College in Eureka, IL, from 2020-2022. While at Eureka, Mitchell assisted in various coaching roles, including coordinating offensive and defensive schemes, post-player skill development and numerous other administrative and game-related tasks. Mitchell graduated with a master's degree from West Virginia in 2021. He also received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, where he also served as a student assistant coach for two seasons, assisting the Leathernecks in their first-ever advancement to the NCAA Tournament in 2016-17.

Lisa Guhl
Assistant Coach
Entering her seventh season on the Colorado College bench, Lisa Guhl is one of the most accomplished assistant coaches in all of NCAA D3 women’s basketball. She has made a positive impact at each step of her playing and coaching career – ranging from NCAA Division I to NAIA to high school to NCAA Division 3. During Guhl’s time at CC, the women’s basketball has reached new heights. The 2022-2023 campaign resulted in 19 victories – the most in 40 years, accomplished while playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Under her tutelage, Zoë Tomlinson was selected as an honorable mention All-American. She has coached additional All-America honorees in Anna Fanelli (’23) and McKenzee Gertz (’21) and multiple SCAC Newcomer of the Year” and Player of the Year recipients. The CC program has earned increasingly positive outcomes in areas such as wins accumulated, winning percentage and conference-leading team statistics as well as top national and conference-level individual recognitions with Guhl on the bench. Her primary duties include halfcourt defense, transition offense, and overall scouting strategy. Additionally, Guhl provides tremendous impact in the way of leadership development and relationship-building. Prior to her time at CC, Guhl was a top-tier coach in the Colorado girls’ basketball ranks, guiding Colorado Springs Christian School to a 65-13 record, two league titles and a regional championship. She was the Denver Post 3A Coach of the Year in 2010 and has guided teams to competing in state championship games and multiple semi-finals. Guhl was a multiple-sport athlete at Colorado Springs Christian School, earning 11 varsity letters in volleyball, basketball and soccer. She was a first-team all-state selection in basketball and soccer and named the Colorado Springs Gazette’s Soccer Player of the Year. She played college basketball at both Hastings College and the University of Colorado. Guhl earned a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Guhl and her husband, Dave, reside in Colorado Springs and are the parents of three grown children – Sarah, Joanna, and Mitchell.
