MacDonald. MacDonald has led the women's team to eight NCAA appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2011. The women returned to the NCAA Tournament the following year and defeated No. 1 Augustana to advance to the Sweet 16. The men have made four trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2010.  Jordan Lyden won the ITA South Central Regional Title and advanced to the national tournament. Nick Provenza and Jordan Chomko won the ITA South Central doubles men's championship, and Kate Lowler and Victoria Sargent won the ITA South Central doubles women's championship. MacDonald has coached two RMAC Players of the Year (Teri Mayeda and Jordan Lyden) and three RMAC Academic Players of the Year (Teri Mayeda, Jordan Lyden and Jordan Chomko). Victoria Sargent and Spencer Weinberg garnered RMAC Freshman of the Year honors, and Kaitlan Sera was the ITA South Central Rookie of the Year.  Four CMU players have earned the Artur Ashe Award (Nick Provenza, Jaco Gerbands, Victoria Sargent and Renee Demianew).  Prior to Mesa, MacDonald coached at Grand Junction and Fruita Monument High Schools.  He played two seasons for the Mavericks after transfering from Cowley County Community College. He helped the Mavericks qualify for the 1991 NAIA National Championship and in 1992 was the Colorado Div. II Championships. In his first season at Cowley County Community College he helped the Tigers to the Junior College Div. II National Championship. The team finished third the following season. He was a two-time All-American in both singles and doubles at Cowley County.  MacDonald holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Colorado Mesa.  Dan MacDonald enters his 10th season as the head men's tennis coach at Colorado Mesa. He has been named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year eight times (five women, three men), and was named the ITA Women's Coach of the Year in 2009. He has led the women to a 189-108 overall record and a 55-8 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. The women have won five RMAC regular season titles and three tournament titles. The men have posted a 149-139 overall and a 35-24 RMAC record mark under MacDonald. MacDonald has led the women's team to eight NCAA appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2011. David Smith

Assistant Coach

Smith has served as an assistant coach with the men's and women's tennis programs at Colorado Mesa University since 2009.   David was a four-year letterwinner for the Mavericks from 2004-08. He spent three seasons as the assistant boys and girls tennis coach at Central High School.  David earned a pair of bacehlors degrees from Colorado Mesa in kinesiology-exercise science and K-12 physical education.
