Joe Fiedler

Head Coach

Bio Joe Fiedler became the Knights sixth head men's soccer coach in team history in February 2012. He has led the Knights to a 195-59-13 (.755) overall record through 2024, thirteen straight NJCAA Region 20 Championships (2012-2024), nine Maryland JUCO Conference titles (2015-2017, 2019-2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) and nine appearances in the NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament (2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020-2021, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024). Last season, Coach Fiedler led the Knights to a winning overall record of 16-4-2. The Knights won the NJCAA Division II Region 20 Championship, notching his thirteenth consecutive regional title in as many years as he's had the reigns. He has been selected Region 20 Men's Soccer Coach of the Year (2012 and 2013) and voted CCBC Essex Coach of the Year five times (2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons) by his peers. In addition, Fiedler has been named the Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year four times (2015-2017 and 2019). Prior to taking over at Essex, Fiedler was the head boy’s soccer coach at Loch Raven High School (1997-2011). During his tenure, the Raiders were two-time Baltimore County Championship Finalists, made five trips to the Maryland State semi-finals, three State Finals appearances, and captured the State Title in 2009. Fiedler’s teams received NSCAA Team Academic Awards in 13 of his 15 seasons. For his efforts, he received the 2005 NHFS State Coach of the Year and 2011 NSCAA Small School State Coach of the Year awards. A graduate of CCBC Essex (then Essex Community College) and University of Baltimore (Bachelors of Science), Fiedler currently resides in Parkville, Md. with his wife Barbara. Together the have two children, son Tim, and daughter Jill.

Omar Abukar

Assistant Coach

Bio Coach Abukar rejoined the Knights' staff in 2025 after previously coaching at CCBC Essex from 2018-2023. Coach Abukar, a highly respected coach and mentor based in Prince George's County, has dedicated his career to developing elite soccer players in the Washington DC metropolitan area and beyond. As Co-Founder and Director of Operations at Touch Kings Football Club (TKFC) since 2020, Omar has played a pivotal role in fostering a pathway for top youth players to advance their careers from high school to college, national teams, and professional clubs worldwide. He had been a Soccerdome Academy Director from 2016-2020. Abukar was also the head coach of Calverton Eagles United MD Boys 00 (2011-2016) where he led the young men to a 2018 Embassy Cup runner up finish, 2017 Region I Eastern Regional League title, 2017 OBGC Capital Cup Labor Day Championship, NCSL Boys 1st Division first place tie and was awarded the NCSL 2016 Coaches Award.  Primary to and during his stint at Calverton, Abukar was the head varsity coach at Parkdale High School (2010-2016). He led the Panthers to three regional championship appearances (2011, 2013, 2016) and in 2013 won the 4A Regional title, while taking the team to the Maryland state semifinals. He was the PG County Gazette Coach of the Year for 2013. A graduate of Bowie State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Psychology, Coach Abukar has a wealth of experience coaching at various levels. He also worked as a consultant/scout for Major League Soccer academies DC United, NY Red Bulls, and Columbus Crew. Additionally, Coach Omar holds USSF C-license, football systems dissertation course from the University of Guadalajara, and FA level 1 & 2 coaching certifications.

Buck Storck

Assistant Coach

Bio Buck Storck joined the Knights men's coaching staff in spring 2020. He spent eight years (1980-1987) as the associate head coach, along side Father Tom Kolis, at Loyola Blakefield. During his tenure, the Dons finished 100-43-17 and were MSA Champions twice. Storck has been involved with Baltimore area Catholic Youth Organizations and Recreational youth programs for numerous years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from then Towson State University (1972-1976) where he played on the soccer team all four years. During his time at Towson, the Tigers traveled to Poland as the United States bicentennial representative. He obtained a graduate certificate in Management from The Insead in France. Storck resides in Parkville, Md. with his wife, Linda. Together they have two daughters, Jessica and Amanda.
