Concordia College, Moorhead Men's Ice Hockey

Howe helped Concordia earn their first MIAC playoff berth since 2002-03 and then proceeded to lead the team to their first-ever conference tournament championship game. Howe has helped Concordia go from a one-win season the year before he took over to a 12-win campaign in 2010-11.   Since the 2010-11 season the Cobbers have made the MIAC playoffs on five different occasions. Overall Coach Howe has guided the Cobbers to the conference postseason in five of his eight seasons at the helm of CC. Concordia has won at least 10 games in the past six seasons starting in 2011 and Howe has helped the Cobbers win 70 games in those six years.       One of the highlights of his first eight seasons came in the 2014-15 season when he guided Concordia to the title of the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout. The Cobbers were the first western team to ever win the prestigious tournament hosted by Middlebury and Norwich.    Before coming to Concordia Howe spent five seasons as the top assistant at St. Johns University. During his five seasons at St. Johns, the Johnnies won two MIAC championships and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2005. The St. Johns team compiled a 83-40-10 record during his tenure and earned a spot in the MIAC playoffs in four of the five seasons. A native of St. Cloud, Minn., Howe received his bachelors degree in social studies and secondary education from St. Johns University in 1999. He played hockey for St. Johns from 1996 to 1999 and was part of a group that won more than 70 games and went to the NCAA Division III national semifinals in 1997. Following his playing career, Howe returned to St. Johns and was the head junior varsity coach. He then went on to become the assistant boys coach at St. Cloud Apollo from 2000 to 2002. He has also served as a head coach at the USA Hockey Select National Festival. Chris and his wife Katie live in Moorhead with their two children.
