Head Coach
Mantalas spent three years as the head cross country and assistant track & field coach with the successful Clackamas Community College programs. With the Cougars, Mantalas propelled six harriers to the schools top-20 list while guiding the mens and womens distance corps to top-two Southern Regional finishes all three seasons. He was voted the Southern Region Coach of the year and captured the regional title in 2011. During his tenure at Clackamas, eight athletes established school records, five earned NWAACC championships and 15 were named NWAACC All-Americans. Before his time at Clackamas, Mantalas spent five years as an assistant coach in both cross country and track & field at Western Oregon University. While at WOU, Mantalas worked with distance runners and was also the head throws coach where he directed individuals to conference titles in the shot put and the 800-meter run. Mantalas also worked on the staff of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference as an assistant sports information director. Mantalas graduated from Western Oregon University in 2006 with a bachelor degree in physical education and a minor in health. Mantalas has also earned his USATF level one certification.
