Concordia University OR Men's Golf

Burtner, a former assistant at the University of Portland, was announced as the third Director of Golf for Concordia University on September 15th, 2015.  This is the first head coaching position for Burtner, who spent four seasons (2006-10) as an assistant men's golf coach at the University of Portland. In his time with the Pilots, the team stroke average dropped by nearly two strokes per round.  "We are extremely excited to have Adrian and his family join the Concordia University team," CU Athletic Director Brian Jamros said. "Adrian is more than ready for this role and with his enthusiasm, teaching ability and network we feel both programs can be successful both regionally and nationally. We have a foundation of sucess to build upon and we look forward to watching out golf programs enter Division II under Adrian's guidance." Burtner has served as the 1st Assistant PGA Golf Professional at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland since 2003. At Columbia Edgewater, his duties included general operations, managing tournaments, developing and acting as head coach of the junior golf programs and supervising staff. "I feel both extremely blessed and excited to have been chosen to lead the Concordia University Men's and Women's golf programs into a new phase of excellence at the DII level," Burtner said. "Concordia golf has set a high bar of excellence over the past decade and I look forward to continuing that tradition." Burtner graduated in 1999 from the University of Oregon with a degree in business administration with an emphasis on sports marketing. He was a four-year letterwinner for the Ducks and a second-team All-Pac-10 selection in 1999, when he won two conference events. His professional career highlights include: the 2006 and 2013 PNWPGA Pro-Assistant Champion; the 2006 Callaway Shootout Champion, and the 2007 Oregon Chapter PGA Assistant Professional of the Year.
