Schumacher helped mentor 1 team AFCA All-American linebacker Takari Johnson to repeat as the Mid-States Association defensive player of the year. In 2015 the Cardinals D did not disappoint. They were ranked 23in total sacks (26), 35in points allowed per game (26.5), 30 in rushing defense (165 ypg), and 25in opponent third down conversions (33%). Most impressively, the Cardinals recorded 18 interceptions, placing them at 11 in the nation. Half of those picks came from the NAIA leading Nick Holshoe, who was named 1 team all-conference. The team's leading tackler, Andrew O'Hara, was named to 2 team all-conference after recording the 8most tackles in the nation (122). Hunter Cox and Kaleb Pohlman were both named Honorable Mention in the MSFA under Coach Schumacher. Schumacher comes to Concordia after previously serving as a teacher and coach at Faith Lutheran HS (Las Vegas, NV) for five seasons (2008-2012). As the defensive coordinator Schumacher helped lead the Crusaders to make multiple playoff appearance while transitioning through three state classifications. While at Faith he coached 28 football players to all-conference recognition and eight to All-State. He also coached one wrestler to a state championship. Before arriving in Las Vegas, Schumacher coached at his alma mater Concordia University Chicago as the Cougars running backs coach during the 2007 season.  Schumacher was a four-year letter-winner and captain at Concordia University Chicago. Overall, he played 35 games as a Cougar and totaled 155 tackles along with 15 tackles for a loss. Schumacher graduated in 2007 with a bachelors degree in physical education and mathematics. He received his masters degree in athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2012. A Connecticut native, Schumacher graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 2003. Joshua and his wife Laura have a son Griffin (1) and currently reside in Ypsilanti. Andrew Rode will be entering his second season as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Cardinals.  In Rode's first season he helped the Cardinals improve in nearly every statistical category. Rode especially made an impact in the running game. Under Rode, the Cardinals tripled the amount of yards gained on the ground (2159 yards) from last year and doubled the yards per carry average (4.5 ypc). The Cardinals' rush offense was ranked 26in the nation, averaging 196 yards per game. The Cards also made significant improvements in touchdowns (32) and total offense (4031 yards) with Rode at the helm.  Rode came to Concordia from Greenville College where he served as the offensive coordinator for two years and helped the program amass a 16-4 record.  Both seasons, the offense was ranked 3 in Total Rushing in the country.  In 2013, the offense averaged 473ypg placing them 18 in the NCAA, and in 2014, Rode led Greenville College to 29 in the NCAA in Total Offense rolling up 467ypg. During his five seasons at Greenville the team went 38-14 with three NCCAA Victory Bowl appearances. Prior to Greenville, Rode coached wide receivers at Anderson University in Indiana. After growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Rode graduated from Wabash College with the highest 4 year win total in school history at 40-7.  He was a part of a class that won four consecutive NCAC conference championships and was a three year letter winner as a wide receiver as he served on the servant leadership council.  Rode also ran track and was a three year letter winner and NCAC All-Conference high jumper. Andrew and his wife Joy were married in 2011.  They currently live in Ypsilanti and have a one year old daughter, Alice. Coach Glennie enters his fourth season as a member of the Cardinal Football Staff. In 2015, Concordia's offensive line allowed 2.7 sacks per game, a number which has improved each year with Glennie at the reins. Concodia's offense flouished in 2015, averaging 196 rushing yards per game (26in NAIA), thanks to Glennie's offensive line.   Glennie has 24 years of coaching experience prior to Concordia that has taken him from coast to coast.  After growing up in Orange County California and graduating from Canyon HS in Anaheim Hills, CA, Coach Glennie attended San Diego State, Cal State Fullerton and Central Michigan University.  During his time in California, Coach Glennie coached at Clairemont HS as a linebacker coach.  Once moving to Michigan he then joined the coaching staff of Mt. Pleasant HS until 1991.  During his years as an assistant coach from 1987-1995, Coach Glennie has coached every position on the field.  In 1996, Coach Glennie and his wife, Cindy, returned to Michigan where he served as head football coach at three schools over the following 16 years.  Coach Glennie has been a head football coach in southeastern Michigan from 1996-2011 spending five years at Capac HS (96-00), one year at Swartz Creek HS (01) followed by ten years as the head football coach at Saline HS here in Washtenaw County (02-11). Coach Glennie has lead his teams to 8 playoff appearances, 4 Region Finals and 1 District Championship.  Most importantly, his athletes have developed tremendous character and work ethic while growing into quality young men. Coach Glennie is also a certified strength and conditioning coach and has served as a national clinician for Bigger Faster Stronger since 2002 putting on strength and conditioning clinics for high school athletes and coaches around the country. Coach Glennie has earned his BS in Physical Education and English as well as his MA in athletic administration from Central Michigan University.  He and his wife Cindy are both teachers in the Saline school district.  They have been married for 21 years and have three children Micayla, Morgan and Mason. I am excited and honored to be part of the Cardinal Football Family and look forward to building success through character, commitment and team! He played two years of collegiate football at Wittenberg at linebacker and spent the past two seasons as a student coach working with the Defensive Line. While at Wittenberg the overall record of the program was 40-6, while winning three conference championships and making three Division III playoff appearances, going 3-3 in those games. O'Hara is pursuing his masters degree in Educational Leadership at Concordia.    Alma Mater: Hope College Earl Schumake will be entering his third season on staff coaching the cornerbacks for the second year after serving as the running backs coach his first season.   In 2015 Schumake coached a secondary that was 11 in the nation with 18 interceptions. Earl Schumake graduated from Hope College with a bachelor of science in 2012 majoring in English and minoring in History. Earl served as a running back for four years at Hope College under the direction of Dean Kreps from2. Prior to joining the Concordia staff, Earl spent two years at the high school level coaching running backs and defensive backs for a year respectively at Holland High School and Ypsilanti High School. Earl currently serves as secondary English teacher at Ypsilanti Community Schools while pursuing his masters in Sports Administration at Wayne State University. Matt will be entering his third season coaching defensive backs at Concordia after being a student assistant last season. Strzalkowski will be a 2015 graduate from Concordia where he also played cornerback and safety for the Cardinals. During his time with the Cardinals he was a three year letter winner,  a team captain, and a part of the first football team at Concordia. Strzalkowski is originally from Brighton, Michigan where he graduated from Brighton High School and currently resides in Ypsilanti.  Anthony Gaynier enters his third season with the Cardinals defense.    Gaynier is a 2015 graduate of Concordia University Ann Arbor with a bachelors degree in biology and exercise science.  In his time there he was a part of the first varsity football team at Concordia.  Anthony played football for three seasons as a linebacker before finishing his career as a student coach.  A Michigan native of Monroe, MI, Anthony is a 2011 graduate of St. Mary Catholic Central High School. Anthony is currently pursuing his masters degree in student personnel administration and currently resides in Ypsilanti.   David Lawrence enters his third season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at CUAA.  Coach Lawrence will work with all of Concordia's athletic programs working with the athletes on their strength, endurance, and nutrition. Lawrence, a graduate from Central Michigan University (2009) was a 4 year letter winner in football for the Chippewas and was part of 2 Mid-American Conference Championship teams in 2006 and 2007.  Upon graduation, Lawrence started his career as a strength coach at the Poliquin Performance Center in Chicago, where he worked with over 20 NFL and professional hockey players as well as high school and college athletes.  In 2012, he moved back to Metro Detroit and opened his own personal training and sports performance center, Michigan Elite Conditioning for Athletes (MECA). There he and his staff currently train over a dozen professional and Olympic athletes as well as some of the top business owners and CEOs in the Detroit Area. Lawrence obtained his (C.S.C.S) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and he has achieved his level 3 status as an international certified strength coach through the Poliquin Strength Institute (P.I.C.P).   Coach Lawrence is known for helping his athletes gain incredible results in a very short amount of time.  At his performance center, the average athlete gains 22 pounds of muscle in 12 weeks and increases their bench press by 60 pounds. Some of his clients include.   Nick Bellore - New York Jets Linebacker and Special Teams Ace.  Bellore has trained with Lawrence the previous 4 years and in that period of time he went from being an undrafted free agent to one of the most productive special teams players in the NFL.  Bellore has also received the IRON JET award as the strongest player on the team each of the previous 3 seasons.   Alison Heydorn - Guyana National Soccer Team.  In 2010, Heydorn was named National player of the Year as she led the Guyanese womens soccer team in goals and to the counties first appearance in the Gold Cup.   Jason Megna - Pittsburgh Penguins Forward.  After training with Lawrence, Megna went on to have his best season in juniors and accepted a Division I scholarship to Nebraska Omaha where he went to light up the CCHHA and was drafted the next year by the Pittsburgh Penguins.  In 3 short years after training with Lawrence Megna went from playing in juniors to scoring goals for the Pens in NHL games.   Mike Repovz - Central Michigan Right Tackle.  Repovz trained with Lawrence for the 2013 NFL Combine.  In just 14 weeks, Repovz went from 271 pounds at 28 percent body fat to 298 pounds and 18 percent body fat, a gain of 40 pounds in lean muscle while increasing his 225 Bench Press from 11 reps to 23.   Lawrence is married and has two children.  Lawrence and his family reside in Walled Lake, MI.

Childers spent the last 7 seasons managing athletic programs and sports camps in Southeast Michigan. Prior to that, Childers coached high school football in Houston, Texas and Michigan while pursuing a career in the business world.  Childers is a former college teammate of Coach Pries at Concordia University Chicago, where they were coached by Jim Braun. Coach Childers resides in Southgate, MI with his wife Franci, also a Concordia Chicago alum and their two boys, Jake (Sophomore at CUC) and Joel (Senior in High School). Joshua Schumacher enters his fourth season as the Cardinals defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. The fall of 2014 marked the best season in program history for the Concordia defense. Defensively, the Cardinals improved in every statistically category. The defense ranked 2 in the country for total sacks (42), 20 in total defense (323 ypg) and 16 in rushing defense (120 ypg).
