Concordia University WI Men's Tennis

Anschutz enters his fifth full season as the head coach of the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Tennis program in 2016-17. The former CUW tennis star rejoined the Falcon athletic department, as head coach of the Womens Team program beginning with the spring 2012 season. The 2015-16 season was a banner year for the program, as the Falcons won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season with an undefeated record (10-0) and the NACC Tournament Championship for the first time in program history, and received the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. CUW also won a program record 21 matches. Overall, the Falcons were 6-2 at home during the 2015-16 campaign and had Ashley Solberg win NACC Rookie of the Year, while Anschutz was named NACC Coach of the Year. They were 102-64 in singles play and 60-29 in doubles action. Anschutz has coached seven All-NACC singles performers and five All-NACC doubles teams. He guided the team to a second place finish in the NACC regular season in the fall of 2014 (9-1 record) and a 13-11 overall record in 2014-15. Anschutz has twice coached the Falcons to the NACC Tournament title match (2014-15, 2013-14). He had an impressive collegiate tennis career helping CUW win three-consecutive Northern Athletics Conference regular season and tournament titles. He finished his career with a 67-39 overall (25-1 NAC) record in singles play and a 63-44 overall (24-3 NAC) record in doubles competition. Since graduation, he has continued his involvement in tennis and has been a part of the distinguished Paley Tennis Center for more than three years. While being a tennis instructor, Anschutz has helped coach the top-ranked juniors in Wisconsin. He has also helped start two very strong tennis programs: the Paley Tennis Camp in Fredonia, Wis., and a kids summer program in Fox Point, Wis. Beyond being a tennis instructor, Anschutz has helped coach the Nicolet High School varsity tennis teams. NHS has the highest all-time win percentage in Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association tennis history and has one of the strongest high school programs in the nation.  While coaching at NHS, Anschutz was the singles coach of both the boys and girls tennis teams. Under his tutelage, three out of four singles competitors on the girls team made WIAA State Tournament appearances, along with two out of four boys single competitors. None of those players had made it to the WIAA State Tournament previously. He attributes much of his personal success in tennis to being a student of the game; always learning from other players, coaches, and even his own players. I have high hopes for the CUW womens team.
