Matt Anderson

Head Coach

Anderson, the former head coach of womens water polo at the University of Michigan, enters his second season as the head coach of the Camel men's and women's water polo programs.  Anderson had an immediate impact on the program's success in his first season at the helm. The Camel men posted a thrilling late season victory against Division I Iona. In the spring, the Camel women notched their third consecutive Division III crown, setting a program record with 18 victories. Five Camels were honored by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches/NCAA All-Americans: Carlos Heros '16, Kelsey Millward '16, Isabelle Baneux '15, Kate Jacobson '15 and Nicky Jasbon '15. During his 12 years as head coach at Michigan, Anderson led the team to four NCAA championship berths and was named the Collegiate Water Polo Associations (CWPA) Western Division Coach of the Year six times. A native of San Diego, Calif., Anderson also won a silver medal in the 2011 World University Games as the head coach of the United States Womens Senior National B Team. Anderson, a graduate of San Jose State University, recently completed a four-year term on the NCAA Water Polo Rules Committee and the NCAA Championship Committee, serving two years as the Championship Chair. He has 11 years of experience coaching men and women at the high school level in California and has extensive experience with the mens national team: serving from 1999-2009 as assistant coach for the United States Water Polo Mens Team on the National Junior, Youth and Cadet Team level, finishing in the top three in several international tournaments. At Michigan, his team was a perennial Top 10 finisher, compiling 332 wins and 10 division titles. During his tenure, he coached 27 All-Americans, 63 Academic All-Americans and current USA womens Olympic goalie Betsey Armstrong.
