Jeff Bresnahan

Head Coach

Jeff Bresnahan recently completed his 28th season as the head sailing coach at Connecticut College and has built one of the top programs in the nation.During the 2000-01 season, the Camel women made headlines by winning four regattas. The program most notably captured the Atlantic Coast championship, which lifted the team to a number one ranking in collegiate sailing at the conclusion of the fall season. The same team went on to finish fourth at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women’s Dinghy Championship in May.Bresnahan’s women’s squad also registered three consecutive third-place finishes at ICSAs from 1997-99, while the coed squad notched a pair of fifth-place finishes in 1998 and 2008. The women recently competed in the 2018 ICSA National Championship and put together an improbable comeback to advance to the final round and place 14th in the competitive field.Overall, Bresnahan’s sailing teams have appeared in 16 ICSA National Championship regattas and five sailors have competed for the singlehanded national championship. The Camels have produced 19 ICSA All-Americans and an additional eight All-America Honorable Mention selections.Along with his duties at Connecticut College, Bresnahan has served as the Principal Race Officer for the Optimist Team Racing National Championship, the Vanguard 15 Fleet and Team Racing Championships, and the Falmouth Mid-Summer Team Racing Championship. He began his coaching career at Salem State in 1988.A talented sailor himself, Bresnahan has competed in several major regattas during his lifetime. This includes the Olympic Trials, Star Boat Class (1992, 4th place), Can-Am Olympic Classes Regatta (1991 overall series winner – Marblehead and Miami), and the Star Boat District 1 Championship (1991, 2nd place). He holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Connecticut.
