Colt Sedbrook
Head Coach
Colt T. Sedbrook is in his third season as head coach of the Crown College baseball team in 2026. He was named to the position on July 1, 2023. The Polars complied a conference record of 16-5 and an overall record of 23-18 under Sedbrook in 2025. Sedbrook guided six players to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) postseason awards list, including pitchers Ryan Vondracek, Jacob Van Dam, Aidan Volk-Specht alongside Kyler Thruston, Bryan Gerbers, and Tyler Olson. Additionally, Sedbrook guided the Polars to a spot in the UMAC championship tournament for the sixth time in program history, while winning the UMAC championship tournament for the second time in program history in 2024. Under Sedbrook’s guidance, Crown has improved in on base percentage and team earned run average. Prior to his arrival at Crown, Sedbrook spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Colorado School of Mines (2019) and Colorado Christian University (2020-2021). During that time, the Orediggers had a record of 40-15, 27-9, while the Cougars had a record of 17-38, 12-28. Before joining the staff at Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Christian University, Sedbrook coached for three seasons at Boulder High School. “Colt brings with him a wealth of playing, coaching, and leadership experience to the Crown baseball program and his addition is a huge win for our entire athletic department. The combination of Colt’s experience, passion, and character will help lead our baseball program in the future. Most importantly, Colt is committed to leading a successful baseball program that will honor Jesus Christ. We are excited to welcome Colt and his family to the Crown family.”—Athletic Director Mike Vigue. Sedbrook had a storied baseball playing career. He was drafted out of high school in 2004 by the Colorado Rockies organization, before attending Dixie State Community College. Following his time at Dixie State CC, he transferred to the University of Arizona. Sedbrook was drafted twice at the University of Arizona, (2007-Chicago Cubs, 2008-St. Louis Cardinals). Sedbrook also spent four seasons in the minor leagues with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, before embarking on his coaching career. “My family and I are blessed and abundantly grateful for this Kingdom opportunity for me to become the next head coach at Crown College,” said Sedbrook. “I want to thank President Andrew Denton, Athletic Director Michael Vigue, VP of College Relations Joel Johnson, Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry Bill Kuhn and the entire interviewing committee for entrusting in me to lead this outstanding baseball program. I believe this opportunity gives me a chance to grow as a man of faith and to fully develop as a baseball coach,” said Sedbrook. A native of Broomfield, Colorado… Sedbrook graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a bachelor of arts in History-Secondary Education, as well as a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Colorado Christian University.

Aidan Volk-Specht
Assistant Coach
Coach Volk-Specht enters his first season as an assistant baseball coach for the Polars, bringing with him a deep understanding of the program and a passion for mentorship. A five-year standout on the mound for the Polars, Volk-Specht played a pivotal role in the team's success during his collegiate career. He was a two-time UMAC All-Conference selection and a UMAC Champion, compiling a career ERA of 6.15 with 16 wins, 188.2 innings pitched, 200 strikeouts, and a .289 opponent batting average. Reflecting on his transition to coaching, Volk-Specht shares: "My mission as a coach is to continue leading and mentoring the guys on the team. It’s through a different lens than it was in the past, but it’s something I’m truly looking forward to. I will lead by example and focus on building strong relationships to help our players grow—not only as baseball players, but also as students and, most importantly, as men. I know I’ll learn a lot from them as well, and I’m pumped for that.” Education: Pursuing Master's in Organizational Leadership Bachelor's in Sports Management, Minors in Business Administration & Entrepreneurship Experience: 2 Years of coaching high school baseball 5 Years of playing collegiate baseball
