D'Youville College Men's Volleyball

Head Coach Brendan Leong enters his second full season at the helm of the D'Youville Men's Volleyball program in the 2026-27 school year. Leong holds a 7-35 overall record with a 1-19 record in Northeast Conference play.  In his first full season leading the Saints, Leong had the first ever D'Youville Men's Volleybal player earn NEC All-Conference recognition as Junior, Ethan Robinson was named NEC Second Team All-Conference. Brendan Leong was named Head Coach of the D’Youville University men’s volleyball program in June 2025 after serving as the team’s assistant coach from October 2023 through the 2025 season. In his role as assistant coach, Leong played a key role in practice planning, opponent scouting, and recruiting, while helping manage travel logistics and match preparation. His position was established through the NCAA Division II Coaching Enhancement Grant, and during his time on staff he worked closely with the program’s leadership to continue building the Saints’ competitive presence within Division I men’s volleyball. Prior to becoming the head coach at D’Youville, Leong gained extensive coaching experience at both the high school and club levels. He served as the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Canisius High School from 2022–2025 while also coaching with Lockport Volleyball Club, leading both the 15U and 16U teams to multiple championship finishes, including a first-place finish at the 2025 AAU Nationals and several AAU Grand Prix and regional titles. A native of Western New York, Leong earned both his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management (2024) and Master of Science in Sport Administration (2025) from Canisius University.  

Johnson is in his second season in charge of the D'Youville men's volleyball program in which he won NEAC Coach of the Year in his first season of 2015. Johnson has a long history of volleyball with great success. At Canisius High School, Nick played four years and won three Monsignor Martin conference titles. He was also a two-time All-Western New York player and thus earned a Division I scholarship to Rutgers University. Following one season at Rutgers, Johnson returned home to Buffalo to attend Medaille College where he a First Team All-Conference player, including the UVC Player of the Year, ECAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player (2012) and and NCAA National Player of the Week (2011). He then graduated from Medaille in 2012 with a degree in Sport Management. Nick served as an assistant coach at Medaille for two years following his playing career and has been an assistant at Canisius High School for the past seven seasons.
