Head Coach
DaJuan Gouard came to Danville Area Community College and the men's basketball program in June of 2010 as the top assistant for head coach Mike Carpenter. He was named head coach and assistant athletic director in 2013, and was recently named Head Athletic Director in the Summer of 2026 after the retirement of Tim Bunton. The basketball program since Coach Gouard's arrival has had nothing but success. The Jaguars won 68 games during his three years as the top assistant, winning two conference championships, one Region 24 championship, and a berth in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Gouard's second year as the head coach saw his Jaguars go 22-12 and in the national polls all season. His 2015-2016 team finished with an overall record of 25-8 and once again in the national polls from start to finish. He produced three NCAA Division I players off that roster. The 2017-2018 team finished with an overall record of 27-8, ranked in the NJCAA top 15 all season, a 14-0 record on the road, and a 9th place finish at the national tournament. Coach Gouard was named Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and Region 24 Coach of the Year in 2018. The 2022-2023 team had one of the most successful seasons in school and league history. The Jaguars finished the regular season with a 27-5 overall record, in the national polls almost every week, a final regular season national ranking of fourth, an unblemished 10-0 Mid-West Athletic Conference record, a Region 24 championship, and a third place finish in the national tournament. Sophomore Kendall Taylor was named Third Team All-American and the Jaguars were awarded the Fred Pohlman Team Sportsmanship Award at the National Tournament. Gouard was once again was named the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and Region 24 Coach of the Year. In the 2025-26 season, Gouard led the team to a 28-5 overall record, and a 13-1 conference record. The team finished third on their home floor in the national tournament, and Gouard was again named the Region 24 Coach of the Year, as well as the MWAC Conference Coach of the Year. Gouard has coached a total of twenty-eight Mid-West Athletic Conference All-Conference players, 4 Mid-West Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, three NJCAA All-Americans, and seven NJCAA Academic Award Winners. The Danville, Illinois native played four years at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his Bachelors Degree in 2005. He then spent the next four years playing overseas in Europe and South America.

Rick Voyles was hired to the Danville Area Community College staff in the 2010-11 season as he joined the Men's Basketball program as the Top Assistant Coach. Coach Voyles has been coaching alongside current head coach DaJuan Gouard since that season. Rick is a graduate of Danville High School. He was a student-athlete here at DACC as a player on the basketball team. He received his Associate's Degree in Business in 1998 before he transferred onto Greenville University where he played basketball from 1989 to 1992, and then received his Bachelor's Degree in '92 in Business Management. As the Top Assistant Coach, he helps the Jaguars with on the floor coaching and the development of player's skills. He is in charge of recruiting, as well as, weightlifting and conditioning, and monitoring academics. There have been 6 seasons where Coach Voyles has been an integral piece of the Jaguars having 20+ win seasons. In 2012 and 2013, as well as 2023, Voyles has assisted in coaching the Jaguars to win MWAC Conference titles. In 2012, the team made it to the NJCAA National Tournament and placed 8th overall. Also during that season, the team had a 17-game win streak. In 2018, they made it to the tournament with a 9th place finish. Then the most previous season (2022-23), the team placed 3rd in the nation at the tournament. He worked with Coach Gouard to accumulate 245 total wins, and they also hold a school record for the most wins in a single season with 28. Rick has coached players to MWAC All-Conference selections, All-Region 24 selections, Freshman of the Year honors, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd team NJCAA All-Americans.

Andreas Coleman
Assistant Coach
Andreas Coleman begins his 6th season as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Danville Area Community College. Prior to his new position, Coach Coleman was an assistant coach at Danville High School for the freshman, junior varsity and varsity teams. Coleman, a Danville native, is also responsible for organizing Team Manimal AAU, sponsored by his former teammate and current Denver Nuggets star, Kenneth Faried. Coach Coleman will be responsible for recruiting, scouting, on the floor coaching, and working with the post players in practice and games. Coleman played for Danville High School from 2002-2006 under Coach Scott Olson and was named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Area and All-State Honorable Mention. He started his collegiate career at Morehead State University from 2006-2009. In 2009 Coleman was a part of the OVC championship team that went on to play in the NCAA tournament. He later transferred to Quincy University where he continued to play basketball. While there his team made school history by having a National Top 10 ranking, starting the season of 17-0, and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen. Coach Coleman graduated from Quincy University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. He also has one daughter, Michael Ava Coleman.
