Kevin Tidey

Head Coach

Tidey is in his fifth season at the helm of the Davenport baseball team and is in his eighth campaign with the program as he served as an assistant from 2009-2011. In just four years at the helm, Tidey has compiled a 164-61 record and has earned one Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular-season and two tournament championships. The program has also made two back-to-back appearances in the NAIA National Championship. The 2015 season saw the baseball program reach new heights, including a 51-win season along with setting a new program record 24-game win streak. While clinching the second WHAC Tournament championship, the Panthers hosted the NAIA National Opening Round and went 3-1 to punch a ticket to the NAIA World Series for the first time in program history. The 2014 squad started the tradition of making the national postseason by winning both the WHAC regular-season and tournament titles. The Panthers made their first ever appearance in the NAIA National Championship that year where they traveled to Santa Clarita, Calif., for the Opening Round. As head coach, Tidey produced two WHAC Players of the Year (Michael Allen in 2013 and Brendan Bender 2015) and a WHAC Pitcher of the Year (Corey Murphy in 2014). Tidey served as an assistant at DU for three seasons under head coach Wes Cummings before taking the reins in 2012. He also served on the coaching staff at Sparta High School, where he helped build the Spartans program into one of the elite baseball powerhouses in the state of Michigan.  At Sparta, his teams won four district titles, one regional championship and made one appearance in the quarterfinals. Tidey compiled a record of 66-11 in his last two seasons with the Spartans as they were ranked in the Top 5 in Division II each season.  Tidey's playing experience goes back to Grand Rapids JC and Aquinas College where he received all-conference and all-region honors at GRJC.  Tidey resides in Sparta, Mich. Ryan McCosky

Assistant Coach

McCosky returns for his fifth season as a member of head baseball coach Kevin Tidey's staff. McCosky served as the head junior varsity coach until the 2012 season. While working with the defense, he has guided the Panthers from the first base line since 2014. In addition to his duties with the baseball program, McCosky also serves as the Panther Recreation coordinator. Along with reaching the NAIA World Series for the first time in 2015, the Panthers, under McCosky's guidance, tallied 128 doubles and stole 94 bases on 132 attempts. Defensively, the Panthers owned a .962 fielding percentage. The year 2014  McCosky spent the last four years at fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foes Concordia, where he served the interim head coach, head JV coach and assistant coach while earning his Masters degree. For three summers, McCosky had coached for the Grand Rapids Diamonds, working closely with the Under-16 and Under-18 teams. Both teams had won back-to-back Black Swamp tournament championships in Ohio.  While with the Cardinals McCosky spent time coaching third base and worked with the outfielders as well as running the strength and conditioning program. He also coached for the Michigan Sports Academy travel baseball program for two summers as head coach of both the 16U and 18U teams. in addition, he served as a hitting instructor for the US Baseball Academy during the winter months.  McCosky played two seasons at Kalamazoo Valley Community College before transferring to Concordia. He was All-Conference and All-Academic as an outfielder in his final season. McCosky and his wife Kristen reside in Mattawan.

Bob Youngs

Assistant Coach

Youngs steered the Panthers to 108 extra-base hits, with the exception of home runs. The Panthers also stole 92 bags under Youngs watch. Youngs, a graduate of Ferris State, has served as the assistant and head baseball coach at Belding High School for a combined 18 years. During his time at Belding, he helped lead them to the quarterfinal round in 1997. Youngs has also assisted with the Belding girls varsity basketball program for two years. Youngs played two seasons at Grand Rapids CC where the Raiders finished third in the Junior College World Series. He then transferred to Ferris State to play two years for the Bulldogs to complete his collegiate career. Youngs currently resides in Belding with his wife Karen. They three daughters Cassie, Katie, and Kara. Bob Youngs returns for his sixth year as an assistant coach for Davenport. While he runs batting practice, he served as first base coach until the 2014 season as he moved into the dugout to assist head coach Kevin Tidey. During the 2014 campaign, Youngs steered the Panthers to 108 extra-base hits, with the exception of home runs. The Panthers also stole 92 bags under Youngs watch.
