Head Coach
Cohen enters his 26th season as DePauw's head men's swimming and diving coach. Cohen's swimmers have scored at the NCAA Division III Championships in 19 of the 25 seasons with the Tigers finishing a program-best 11th in 2008. DePauw teams have finished in the top 20 at the Division III Championships nine times during Cohen's tenure and five in the last six years. The North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Swim Coach of the Year in 2013, Cohen earned similar honors from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference six times as he directed the Tigers to no worse than a second-place finish with seven titles including the last six. In 1998, DePauw won the Indiana Collegiate Athletic Conference in its final year in the league and Cohen was the conference's coach of the year. Cohen came to DePauw in 1987 as a graduate assistant for both the men's swimming and diving and football programs and was named the head men's swimming and diving coach in 1988. He continued to assist in football through the 1990 season. Prior to DePauw, the Cleveland, Ohio, native taught and coached for three years at Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pa. As an English instructor for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades, Cohen designed a coursee in American literature. He also served as an assistant football and swimming coach, a head coach of the diving team and head coach of the girl's swim team. A 1984 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, Cohen earned a B.A. in English and psychology and was involved in student government, serving as president during his senior year. He also earned an M.A.T. in English education from DePauw. Cohen also serves as part-time coordinator of the Center for Spiritual Life and a part-time instructor in kinesiology. Active in the community, he has served as president of the Big Walnut Sports Park and is a member of the Greencastle City Council.
