Zac Mishler
Assistant Coach
Zac Mishler enters his second season with the Bears as an assistant coach where he will be in charge of the hitters and infielders. In Mishler’s first year with the Bears he helped lead a DMACC offense that slugged themselves to the World Series in 2024. The Bears had a batting average of .370 and had 24 extra base hits in the four games they played in the Region 11 tournament. In the eleven games the Bears played in the post season they had a batting average of .330, had 49 extra base hits and had extra base hits in eight of the eleven games played. In 2024 Zac also saw three of his hitters receive All Region honors. DMACC finished in the top three in conference in doubles, home runs, RBI, walks, stolen bases and hit by pitch and double plays turned. The 2024 team also saw six position players commit to play NCAA Division 1 baseball four players commit to play NCAA Division 2 baseball. Zac comes to DMACC after spending the previous two years as the head baseball coach at Alderson-Broaddus University. Prior to being the head coach at Alderson-Broaddus University Zac was an assistant coach there for five years where he was in charge of the team’s offense, defense and recruiting efforts. ABU saw thirteen total all conference players, with nine of those being infielders, and one second team all-region player in Mishler’s time with the Battlers. ABU also saw pitcher Randy Dobnak sign professionally with the Minnesota Twins in 2017 while Mishler was there. Dobnak made his MLB debut with the twins in 2019 and was the game wo starter in the playoffs against the New York Yankees in that same season. Prior to his time at ABU, Mishler spent one season at Saint Joseph College where he worked with infielders and hitters.

Kaden Peterson
Assistant Coach
Kaden Peterson is entering his second season as an assistant coach at DMACC. Kaden works with pitchers, assists with player development and serves as bullpen coach on gameday. In Peterson’s first year with the Bears he played a big factor in the development of a pitching staff that made it to the 2024 World Series. The 2024 team also saw nine pitchers commit to play NCAA Division 1 baseball, one pitcher commit to play NCAA Division 2 baseball, one pitcher commit to play NCAA Division 3 baseball and two players commit to play NAIA baseball. Before coming to DMACC to coach, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Peterson pitched in two seasons (2022, 2023) for the Salukis while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Administration. He closed out a combined no-hitter in his Division 1 debut against Austin Peay State University. Prior to SIU, Peterson pitched for the DMACC Bears in three seasons (2019, 2020, 2021). He spent much of the 2021 season rehabilitating an arm injury. Before COVID-19 shut down the 2020 campaign, Peterson had pitched 8 innings with a 3.38 ERA. He earned ICCAC Honorable Mention All-Conference after his freshman year. Peterson graduated with his Associate of Science in Liberal Arts degree from DMACC in the spring of 2020. Peterson is from Luther, Iowa, and graduated from Ames High School in 2018.

Chase Brundage enters his sixth season at DMACC and his second year as pitching/catching coach and recruiting coordinator in 2024-2025. In Brundage's five years he has helped assist with pitchers, recruiting, and technology. During his time at DMACC working with pitchers there have been fifteen different pitchers win ICCAC pitcher of the week, two national pitchers of the week, seven all region pitchers, one region pitcher of the year, one all American and had a catching group that had the highest caught stealing percentage in the conference. Brundage was vital in the recruiting efforts and development of the pitchers and players on the 2024 team that won the Region 11 tournament, won the North Plains district tournament and NJCAA Divison 2 World Series qualifiers where the bears won two games. Before coming to DMACC Brundage went to Urbandale High School. He was a part of two state championship baseball teams in High School. Brundage also has spent the past two summers coaching with Urbandale baseball as the head JV coach and an assistant with the varsity program. Brundage graduated from DMACC with an AA degree in the Spring of 2021 and from Iowa State University with a degree in Liberal Studies in the Spring of 2023.
