Craig Hanson
Head Coach
Hanson joined the Red Devil coaching staff in the fall of 2006 following a two-year stint at Division I Davidson College, in Davidson, N.C. In his second season at Davidson, Hanson stepped into the role of top assistant and helped the offense explode into the national rankings. The team was in the top 25-nationally in most offensive statistics, including team batting average and homeruns per game. Prior to his time at Davidson, Hanson served as the director of baseball operations for Stanford University. There he was an integral member of the 2004 Cardinal team that advanced to the NCAA tournament and spent the majority of the season ranked No. 1 in the nation. He coordinated certain aspects of recruiting, assisted in running practices and managed field duties. Hanson also provided individual hitting instruction and was responsible for electronically charting pitch sequence and elevation during games. Hanson is a 2003 graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont where he received his B.A. in psychology. While at Middlebury, Hanson was a two-sport athlete. He was four-year first baseman, designated hitter and pitcher on the baseball team and played football during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. During the summers of his collegiate years, Hanson stayed in Middlebury and served as an assistant coach and hitting instructor for the Addison County American Legion team, comprised of 15-18 year olds. Since his arrival in Carlisle, Hanson has dedicated himself to the recruitment of talented student-athletes nationwide. The Red Devils broke the school record for wins in a season, in both 2011 and 2012. Under Hanson, the Red Devils have virtually rewritten the school record book, filling the top ten in numerous categories, producing the Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2008. In 2015, the Red Devils broke school records for stolen bases and runners picked-off. The team played in two the of the longest games in both program and conference history, outlasting Ursinus 3-2, in an 18-inning affair in 2013. The went 16 innings at Haverford College in 2014, suffering the loss in a 17-16 thriller.
