Renae Littrell

Head Coach

Littrell's guidance. The Tigers have broken the school record for wins twice and qualified for their first-ever NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2015. The 2015 season was a banner season for the Tigers, winning their first conference title since the program started in the early 1970s. Doane posted 17 conference wins that season, also a school record. After graduating from Andover High School (Kan.), where she still holds the school record for career wins and season earned run average (ERA), Littrell began her collegiate playing career at Butler County Community College (BCCC) and earned Freshman-of-the-Year honors. She was an all-conference and all-region selection at pitcher that first season, compiling a 23-5 record and 0.96 ERA. In her second year, she received all-conference and all-region honors again as a pitcher and utility player. In both years at BCCC, she was an NJCAA All-American nominee. After earning her associates degree from BCCC, she went to Missouri Western State College where she received all-conference as a utility player. During the summer between her sophomore and junior seasons, she competed internationally in Holland and Germany for two months. She finished her Bachelor's Degree at Wichita State University in exercise science and later completed her Master's of Education Degree from Lamar University. Littrell began her coaching career back where she started her collegiate playing career, at Butler County Community College. She spent one season there as an assistant coach before moving over to Hutchinson Community College as an assistant coach and instructor. She served as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at both schools. Her first head coaching stop was at Del Rio High School in Texas. After the completion of two seasons at Del Rio, she had coached six all-conference players and 10 Academic All-State nominees. She then served as the head coach at Earl Warren High School in San Antonio for four years and coached 16 all-district players and eight Academic All-State student-athletes. There she compiled a 57-41 record at Earl Warren. She served as a physical education teacher at both high schools and also boasts a year of coaching experience in volleyball and tennis during those years. Coach Littrell and her husband, Josh, have three sons, Cooper, Max and DJ.   Assistant Coach Jordan Olson joined the Tiger softball team in January 2014.  Olson is pursuing her masters degree through Doane College in education curriculum.  She comes to the Tigers from Mayville State where she was an assistant in fall 2013 and also served as a HPER instructor.  Originally from Mayville, ND, the hometown product went on to play for the Lady Comets of Mayville State for two seasons in the outfield.  After obtaining her bachelors degree in health education and physical education, she coached high school softball in San Diego, Calif., at Patrick Henry High School. At Doane, she will work with the outfielders and slap hitters in addition to other responsibilities. Recruiting Coordinator Brad Horky joined the Tigers in Fall 2012.  Horky brings a wealth of collegiate coaching experience at the NAIA, NCAA and NJCAA levels where he has collected over 500 wins as head coach.  His first head coaching position was at the University of Nebraska-Kearney when they were a member of the NAIA.  In three seasons, he collected 100 wins and led the Lopers to the 1987 NAIA National Championship.  He was also named the NAIA National Coach-of-the-Year. His success at UNK took him south to the University of Kansas where he was an assistant coach for the Jayhawks.  In three seasons as an assistant, Kansas won 109 games and were the Big 8 Tournament runner-up in 1990. He returned to the head coaching ranks in during the 1991 season when he took over Pittsburg State University; one of two stints as head coach for the Gorillas.  In his first five years, he took Pittsburg State to three NCAA D2 regional tournaments while winning 183 games.  His most recent stint at PSU was from 2005-2010 where his teams won 118 games, giving him 301 wins as the Gorillas head coach. In between stints at Pittsburg, he coached at the junior college level.  He coached Butler Community College and Brown Mackie College for a combined four years.  Horky also is President of Kansas Express Inc. Softball Tours, which he began in 1994.  The company takes teams overseas to play softball.
