Dominican University (IL) Men's Basketball

Troy Tonsil took over as the men's basketball head coach in the Fall of 2023. Tonsil joined the men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant on Mark White's bench in 2012. As a Dominican University student, Tonsil lettered three seasons with the Stars’ basketball team from 2005-2008, the most successful three-year stretch in the program since Dominican joined the NCAA Division III ranks in 2000.   Prior to the 2016 season, Tonsil was promoted to full-time status adding coaching responsibilities with the women's basketball program and both the men's & women's tennis programs. Tonsil was a part of the rebuild that led the women's basketball program to new heights, including back-to-back NACC semifinal appearances. On the tennis front, the men's tennis program qualified for the NACC Tournament in Tonsil's first four seasons, including a semifinal appearance in 2018.   In addition to his time on the court as a player, Tonsil has served as an assistant coach with the Kenwood Academy High School (2011-2012) and the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (2008-2011) boys’ basketball teams as well as working at the Camp Chen-A-Wanda basketball camp in Thompson, Pennsylvania during the summer of 2012. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Dominican in May of 2008, Tonsil went on to Northern Illinois University, receiving a Master of Science in Sport Management in August 2012. Through his coursework at NIU, Tonsil worked with the Grad Sport Society, participating in weekly promotions to sustain the integrity of best business practices in sport across campus.

Jace Thompson joined the Dominican University men's basketball program in the fall of 2023. Thompson has vast experience as a men's basketball coach through all levels including high school, NAIA, and the NCAA. He most recently worked as the associate men's basketball coach at Oakland City University. He also has experience as a head coach at Indiana University-Kokomo, and as an assistant at Purdue University North Central, University og Rio Grande, and Daleville High School. Thompson is a graduate from Ball State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in sport administration, marketing, and finance. He then went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration at Purdue University North Central.

Erin McMillan has been a staple of the Dominican University men’s basketball team since his arrival on campus in 2005, lettering two years before serving as a student manager for five seasons after exhausting his eligibility in 2007. McMillan took on a new role in 2012, joining head coach Mark White’s staff as an assistant coach. During his two seasons in a Stars’ uniform, McMillan scored 446 points and grabbed 300 rebounds in 53 games, making 24 appearances in the Stars’ starting lineup. At 6’7, McMillan shot nearly 47 percent from the field, including connecting on 34-of-105 attempts from three-point land and was consistent from the free throw line, shooting over 75 percent for his career. Prior to Dominican, McMillan played at the College of Lake County. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2008, McMillan continued to study at Dominican University, receiving his master’s degree in social work in 2012.

Hey everyone my name is Nehemiah Crowder, I am the assistant mens basketball coach at Dominican University (IL).
