Dordt College Men's Golf

Christians has held a variety of coaching positions since graduating from Dordt College.  He coached varsity tennis and JV basketball at Des Moines Christian High School from 1986 to 1989. After arriving at Dordt in 1989 as a professional counselor, he was the assistant varsity basketball coach in 1990-91 and was the junior varsity basketball coach from 1992-94. He began coaching the mens golf team in 2003, taking over the golf program from Abraham Bos who coached the Defender golf team for 33 years. He assumed the womens head coach position in 2014 and continues to serve as the head coach for mens and womens golf. Coaching Philosophy My core coaching values and beliefs are based on Christs example that he exhibited while on earth, and I'm guided by Scripture as I teach these students how to be member of a team and a student-athlete at Dordt College. I believe this program has been established to teach, instill, and strengthen the core beliefs of the Christian faith, not to just compete in golf meets. The golf program aims to develop student-athletes to be servant leaders both as a member of the Dordt College community and in their future role as disciples of Christ working toward shalom in his kingdom. As a golf program, our goal is to compete in a Christian manner and to use our God-given talents to the best of our ability.               Athletic Background Varsity Basketball, Soccer, Track at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School (Edgerton, MN) Varsity Basketball, Tennis, Golf at Dordt College (1981-85) Academic Background B.A.  in Psychology and Education from Dordt College in 1985 M.Ed. in School Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 1986 Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of South Dakota in 1996 Family Wife Lisa Son Ben (and wife Janell; grandson Coen) Daughters Emily (and husband Zach); Anna Mark Christians
