Duke placed second overall in the ACC Championship in 2011 and collected three overall victories during the season. In 2010-11, Whithaus helped direct the team to a tie for third at the ACC Championship and its sixth NCAA Championship appearance in the last eight seasons. Whithaus coached one NCAA Division III individual champion, 16 All-America honorees, 11 All-America Scholars and 10 North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year winners. Whithaus was an assistant coach at Ohio Wesleyan for two seasons before taking over the head position. A Findlay, Ohio, native, Whithaus graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 1991 with a degree in economic management. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Whithaus served as an assistant athletic director for facility management at Ohio Wesleyan for five years. He was also the director of the Central Ohio Golf Academy, a teaching professional at Oakhaven Golf Club and a committee member for the Gordin Collegiate Classic, one of the most prestigious Division III tournaments in the nation.
