Dave Ashfield

Head Coach

Ashfield was the goalkeeper coach for all youth male and female all-star teams. He had instant success leading the squads to a number of podium finishes, while developing six goalkeepers in national programs.   He is also familiar with the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), having been an associate head coach with Centennials womens soccer team during the 1994-95 season and from 1998 to 2001. In the Colts inaugural outdoor season, the team won an OCAA silver medal and followed that up with a championship title during the indoor season. In 2000, the Colts once again reached the podium winning another outdoor silver medal. He was also an assistant coach with Durhams mens soccer team in 2013. In his first season as head coach he led the Lords to their best performance since 1999, when the team won bronze at the OCAA championship. They finished his inaugural season as head coach with a 5-2-0 conference record, making it to the bronze medal game, which they lost 1-0 to the Sheridan Bruins. With the Scarborough Azzurri, he was an associate head coach with the womens team who were national bronze medalists in 1995 and 1996. The club also won the Ontario Cup, OWSL League and OWSL Cup in the same years. As an assistant coach with the mens club, they were Ontario Cup Champions in 1996.   As a player, Ashfield represented the country as he was Team Canadas starting goalkeeper for the U16 team. At this level, he became the first goalkeeper in this age group to record consecutive shutouts at an international event. Provincially, Ashfield was the starting goalkeeper for team Ontario from 1983 to 1985. His team won national titles in back-to-back years and was bronze medalists at the Canada Games in 1985.   He also played professionally with the Toronto Blizzard of the Canadian Soccer League who won the regular season championship in 1990.   With the North York Cosmos, he was named goalkeeper of the year in 1984 and won the Ontario Cup silver medal in 1985. Ashfield also has experience playing for the Panhellenic Soccer Club (semi-professional), Toronto Italia, Scarborough Azzurri and the Markham Soccer Club.   He has also been a regional referee since 2001 where he has had the opportunity to officiate in the Canadian Soccer League for the past two seasons. Alex Bianchi

Assistant Coach

Bianchi, enters into his third year as the assistant coach to the Durham Lord mens team. Bianchis technical training sessions and coaching experience have been a factor in the continuing growth of the mens program at Durham. When not working with the Durham Lords, Bianchi remains extremely active at the youth soccer level in Durham. Involved with soccer for over 20 years in the Town of Ajax, Bianchi has been involved in team coaching, staff coaching and serving on the executive board for both the Village Soccer Club and the Ajax Soccer Club. Bianchi was heavily involved in the merger of the two clubs which eventually became Ajax FC. As part of Ajax FC, Bianchi continues to be one of the driving forces in the development of student-athletes in preparation for post-secondary education. Known for structure & tactics on the field and a high emphasis in excelling in the classroom, many players have flourished under his guidance. He is currently the head coach of the Ajax U-17 girls team that already have eight players verbally committed to a number of U.S. schools on athletic/academic scholarships in the fall of 2017. A member of the Coaching Association of Canada, Bianchi holds a number of certifications with the Association. A father of three, Alex and his wife Debbie reside in Whitby, Ontario. While not running any more marathons, Bianchi likes to hit the trails when he can for a run to keep his fitness up. Alex and Debbie love spending time with their family, Sunday dinners are a big tradition at their place and with the addition of their first grandchild, Logan, the get together are even more enjoyable. Apparently, it didnt take long for coach Bianchi to have Logan in a Juventus jersey.
