Jim Nemish

Head Coach

Nemish will be entering his 28th season as head coach of the Lords softball program. In 2012, the Lords clinched their 26th overall regular season title and 15th in 16 years with a conference record of 14-1. The team went on to win the OCAA silver medal and a silver medal at the Canadian Intercollegiate National Fastball Championship their highest placing at the national championship. While leading the Lords, coach Nemish has become a legend in his own right; he has seen his teams medal every year except three over the past 27 years. The Lords won provincial medals in 16 consecutive seasons from 1997 to 2012 and have collected a total of 31 since 1981 (17 gold, 10 silver, 4 bronze), the most of any college in league history. His Lords squads have posted a simply incredible overall conference record of 271-37 for an untouchable .880 winning percentage. Included in this daunted record is an all-time school record and OCAA record of 56 consecutive conference wins. The veteran coach is the winningest coach in OCAA womens fastball history and reached the 300 career win milestone in the 2007 OCAA gold medal game. He is an extremely disciplined coach who expects commitment and dedication on and off the field from his team members, including the importance of academic success. A graduate of Durham College himself, coach Nemish resides in Oshawa and enjoys golf in the offseason. Coach Nemish has developed the Lords Fastball program into one that is highly respected in the province, as well south of the border in New York, Illinois and Michigan State. The team annually travels to play against very tough US competition.

Jamie Baker

Coach

Baker joined Durham's coaching staff in 2013 to help assist the head coach with all on-field duties with a concentrated effort on developing the team's pitching staff by implementing proper pitching technique, pitch movement and strategies. He is also responsible to help recruit talent from all across the country.    Graduating from the Durham College sport management program, Baker is familiar with the history and success of the womens softball program.   As a player, Baker has won several Ontario Championships both at the Senior and Intermediate Level. Nationally, his teams have gone on to win two silver and two bronze medals and in 2005 at the Canadian Championships, Baker was the 2nd top batter and named to the All-Canadian Team.   Baker has competed at a high level for over a decade all across North America, which has included four top 10 finishes in the mens ISC World Championships in the 2000s. He has also participated in several NAFA (North American Fast-pitch Championships) with a second place finish and has been named first team all-world on three occasions.   Baker most recently spent the early part of the 2014 season at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas where he was hired as the pitching coach to help develop a full freshmen pitching staff. Baker had an immediate impact by lowering the teams ERA by over one run a game which had a direct result with six more wins and the best winning percentage in team history.
