John Mosley
Head Coach
Mosley the Huskies claimed the South Coast Conference Championship and Mosley was named SCC Coach of the Year. The huskies were ranked as high as #2 in the CCAAA coachs poll and marched all the way to the Elite-Eight in their 4 consecutive visit to the CCAAA State playoffs. Six Huskies on the 2016-17 squad successfully matriculated to 4 year universities. The 2014-2015 season was one of the most magical seasons in ELAC History with Mosley at the helm. The Huskies made a 3 trip to the CCCAA State Tournament as a modest 13 seed with a modern day Cinderella run. The 22-11 Huskies hushed all doubters while winning a play-in game for the tourney birth, the huskies continued to win 5 straight to reach The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship game (1 in ELAC 70 year history). The Huskies ended their run as Saddleback College squeezed out a 50-47 win leaving ELAC the 2014-2015 CCCAA State Finalist. Mosley also saw 4 sophomores named All-South Coast Conference, 2 players named to the CCCAA State All-Tournament Team and 1 named to the CCCAA All-State Team. Seven Huskies on the 2014-15 squad successfully matriculated to 4 year universities. In 2013-2014 the Huskies, led by Mosley, were the South Coast Conference (SCC) Champions for the 1 time in over 42 years. They finished with another 20 win season and CCCAA State playoff berth at an overall 20-9. In 2013-2014 Mosley was named the SCC Mens Basketball Coach of the Year and 2013-2014 SCC Mens Sports Coach of The Year. ELAC saw its 1 ever SCC Player of The Year in PAC-12 bound Aaron Cheatum, who also made the CCCAA All-State Team along with 3 others named 1 Team All South Coast Conference. In Mosleys first season at ELAC the Huskies recorded a remarkable 21-8 record and their 1 trip to the CCCAA state playoffs in over a decade. In addition he saw 4 sophomores named All South Coast Conference and 1 named to the prestigious CCCAA All-State Team. In the 2012-13 season, the Huskies ranked as high as #7 in the CCCAA State coaches poll which was also a first in ELAC history. Before ELAC Mosley, spent 5 years at NCAA Division I California State University Bakersfield as assistant Mens Basketball Coach for Keith Brown. Mosley was the recruiting coordinator and instrumental in the programs Division I transition. He also taught in the Kinesiology Department at CSUB. Before CSUB Mosley spent 8 years at his Alma Mater The Masters College as assistant coach for the legendary Bill Oates. While coaching at the Masters, his team recorded 152-97 while capturing 2 berths to the NAIA nationals elite eight and sweet sixteen. Mosley also served as Director of Marketing for athletics and taught six years in the Kinesiology Department. As an athlete Mosley was a local product staring at Washington Prep High School in Basketball and Track. After high school he made the choice to attend ELAC. As the two year team captain and starting point guard Mosley led the Huskies into the playoffs, accumulated 2 all-conference honors, was all-state honorable mentioned and led California in assists (11.1). Mosley transferred to The Masters College where he led his team to two regional championships and 2 NAIA Div I national tournament appearances. In 2004 Mosley was inducted into the hall of fame at TMC. After college he enjoyed a professional stint in Australia and Brazil. Mosley holds an AA degree in Liberal Arts from ELAC, BA in Kinesiology from The Masters College and a MA in Education. Mosley and his wife La Shaunda have three children: Jackson 12, Moriah 10 and Leah 8. Joining the Huskies in his first season back in the 2015-16 campaign, Coach Ken has helped bring 4 straight South Coast Conference North Titles to East Los Angeles College, multiple Elite 8 appearances, and a boat load of talent to the East Los Angeles College campus. The young veteran known as one of the top recruiters in the country coach Ken Hunter has recruited and mentored 5 South Coast Conference MVPS, 1 State Player of the Year, 6 All State players, and over 40 South Coast First team All Conference selections in 12 years (officially) 18 years (unofficially volunteer) as an assistant coach in California Community College. He help revive a Los Angeles Trade Tech College program that was 3-27 the year prior to his arrival, and split a conference title his first year coaching with storied programs like LACC and Compton Community College, from that point on Los Angeles Trade Tech became a top program winning 3 South Coast Conference titles and making both elite 8 and final four appearances. Coach Hunter is a staple at top Junior College All American Camps and Showcases and Pro Am basketball leagues such as JBL Pro-Am, the Say No Nike College summer league, Nike Drew League Pro Am where he has coached and mentored some of the top players in the country at all levels including NBA superstars James Harden, Chris Paul, Montrezz Harrell, and Marvin Bagley 3rd. Coach Hunter played his high school basketball at famed powerhouse Detroit Southwestern and Ecorse high school where he was first team All Suburban Athletic Conference first team in basketball and baseball and News Harold All Dream team and conference baseball unanimous M.V.P. Hes learned from the hall fame coaches Perry Watson and Kenneth Jackson and went on to work for future Hall of Famer Richard Wells. Coach Hunter career as a colligate player was cut short due to an accident which paralyzed him permanently but gave him the passion and spirit to start coaching basketball at the junior college level and through hard work and dedication has become one of the best in the business. Coach Hunter has a degree in Kinesiology from California State Fullerton University (2010) and has a wife Ingrid Hunter and five kids Kayla 23, Tiana 22, Kenneth 20, Ian 14, and Quen 8.
