Head Coach
DeVito in 2015, putting together winning streaks of six (to open the season) and five and never losing more than one regular-season match in succession. In nine years, DeVitos teams have featured one NSCAA All-America, three NSCAA Scholar All-Americas, 19 NSCAA All-Region picks, eight NSCAA Scholar All-Region selections, 11 LEC Players-of-the-Year, 41 LEC All-Academic recipients, and 51 All-LEC selections. With a veteran defense playing in front of a first-year goalkeeper in 2015, the Warriors opened with four shutouts victories three against ranked opponents and opened the season ranked third in New England and No. 19 nationally by the NSCAA and was rated No. 8 by in the second national poll of the year. The team was ranked among the top six in all eight weekly NSCAA New England Division III prior to conference tournament play and was rated No. 5 in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Rankings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Six players received all conference recognition in 2015 three of them first-team choices. Senior defender Cooper DAmbrosio repeated as LEC Defensive Player-of-the-Year and was additionally recognized as first team NSCAA All-New England Region and was named as an NSCAA Academic All-America second team choice and recipient of the departments prestigious Francis E. Geissler Award, which recognizes sportsmanship, fair play, teamwork and academic commitment. For three consecutive years through 2014, the Warriors qualified for an NSCAA Bronze Ethics Award for having accumulated a minimum number of yellow cards and no red cards. The least penalized team in the LEC under DeVito, Eastern had averaged only 7.5 yellow cards the last four seasons and has been issued only two red cards in nine years under the current head coach. For the fourth time in five years in the fall of 2015, Eastern also met the requirements for an NSCAA Team Academic Award for compiling a team GPA of at least 3.00. During the 2015-16 academic year, the program also compiled the highest cumulative GPA (3.29) among the departments seven mens intercollegiate programs. In 2013, Eastern was chosen as the winner of the National Marrow Donor Program/Be The Match Awareness Award. DeVito, who holds a USSF B License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma has been coaching soccer on a variety of levels since 1988. Having coached at the premier level for the last 18 years, DeVito is currently coaching the NEU U16 thru U18 boys. He has won six CJSA Open Cup championships, four CJSA State Cup Finalists as well as advancing to the Region 1 semifinals in 2010 and winning a US Club regional championship in 2004. Entering his 12th season with the coaching staff (the first two as an assistant coach), DeVito has a strong staff of assistants in 05, 10 and 98 all products of the Eastern soccer program.
