Dan Monson
Head Coach
Dan Monson was hired as the 20th head coach in Eastern Washington men's basketball history on April 12, 2024. Monson has 27 years of Division I head coaching experience, with 445 wins, four NCAA Tournament appearances (1999, 2005, 2012, 2024), nine conference championships and four Coach of the Year awards. He has nine National Invitational appearances, winning seven games. In his first season as Head Coach, Monson led the Eagles to a double-digit win season. Under his leadership, several Eagles had career seasons, with Emmett Marquardt, Nic McClain, and Mason Williams being notable standouts. Monson also led the team to several marquee road wins against Sacramento State and Weber State, the Weber win being a notable dominant performance 72-49. Monson arrives in Cheney after serving as the head coach at Long Beach State, leaving as the program's all-time winningest coach with 275 wins. He led the team to the ‘24 NCAA Tournament after winning the Big West Tournament as the No. 4 seed. In his 17 seasons at Long Beach, Monson coached four Big West Player of Year winners and 18 First-Team All-Big West honorees. He led the Dirtbags to the 2011-12 NCAA Tournament and had four NIT appearances during his tenure. Prior to Long Beach, Monson spent eight seasons as the head coach at Minnesota. In the 2004-05 season, the Gophers won 21 games and went to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in six seasons. He had 118 wins, advancing to the Big Ten tournament five times. Minnesota made four appearances in the NIT during Monson’s tenure, winning six games. Monson is no stranger to Spokane County after coaching Gonzaga in the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons where he played a pivotal role in the start of the program’s current success. Led by Monson, the ‘Zags advanced to the 1999 Elite Eight, winning both the WCC regular season and conference tournament championships that season. Monsoon went 24-10 in his first season with the Bulldogs, advancing to the second round of the NIT after winning the regular season title. He was named WCC Coach of the Year in ‘98. Along with coaching at the collegiate level, Monson was on the staff for two USA Basketball teams. Monson served on the 20-and-Under Word Championships in 2004 and the 1999 Men’s World University Games, winning gold medals at both events. Monson started his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he spent two seasons with the Blazers. He earned his master’s degree in education, emphasizing athletic administration from UAB in 1988. Monson earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Idaho in 1985. Monson’s dad, Don, was the head coach for Idaho and led the Vandals to the Sweet 16 in the 1982 tournament. Idaho also qualified for the 1981 NCAA Tournament after winning the Big Sky championship. Don started his coaching career at Cheney High School in the 1950s. Monson and his wife, Darci, have two daughters, Mollie and McKeena, and two sons MicGuire and Maddox.

Ryan Lundgren
Associate Head Coach
Ryan Lundgren enters his second season as the Associate Head Coach at Eastern Washington University (EWU). Lundgren is in charge of the Eagles offense and overseas all recruiting and NIL operations for the program. Lundgren came to EWU after spending the 2023-24 season as the head coach of Carroll College. In his first season at Eastern, Lundgren was instrumental in obtaining transfer Andrew Cook for Eastern Washington. Cook had a career-season under Lundgren's guidance, ranking in the top-ten in the Big Sky in multiple categories, including: Points, Field Goal Percentage, Free-Throw Percentage and Steals. In the 2023-24 season, the Saints went 12-3 in the Frontier Conference and 19-12 overall. Carroll defeated the University of Providence in the conference tournament semifinals to advance to the championship where they fell to Montana Tech. The Saints were then selected to play in the NAIA National Tournament against Cornerstone University (Mich.) in the first round. Prior to Carroll, Lundgren was the associate head coach at the College of Southern Idaho from 2019 to 2023. In the 2022-23 season, Southern Idaho went undefeated (29-0) and finished as the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Rankings. The team won the regular season titles in 2023 and 2021, with the tournament title in ‘23. CSI qualified for the NJCAA national tournament in 2021 and ‘22 as well. Lundgren’s first head coaching job was at Vallivue High School from 2015 to 2019. He earned Idaho Press Tribune Boy’s Athletics Coach of the year for the 2016-17 season after leading Vallivue to the Idaho 4A state title game. Vallivue also won the 2018-19 Southern IDaho Conference regular season title. Lundgren began his coaching career at Boise State University as the Director of Player Development from 2011 to 2015. He graduated from Boise State with his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism in 2012 and earned his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in 2015. Ryan is that perfect fit, and he has won at every stop in his career. I have known and respected Ryan from his days at Boise State, where we had a professional relationship. MicGuire Monson
Assistant Coach
MicGuire Monson has joined Eastern with an impressive track record in basketball operations. In his first season with the Eagles, Monson assisted Anderson with skill development as well as aiding Lundgren with the daily operations of the program. Most recently, he served as a graduate assistant at Long Beach State, where he was instrumental in player development, booster relations, and navigating Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities. During his time at Long Beach, Monson helped the team secure an NCAA tournament appearance and Big West tournament champions. Before his time at Long Beach State, Monson was a student assistant at Boise State. There, he contributed to player development and player relations, gaining valuable experience that has shaped his approach to coaching and team management. His comprehensive background in both on-court and off-court aspects of basketball makes him a significant asset to Eastern. With his proven success and well-rounded skill set, Monson is well-positioned to make a positive impact on the Eagle basketball program and contribute to its future success.

Dora Goles
Assistant Coach
Dora Goles was hired to join the Eastern Washington staff in June of 2025 by head coach Joddie Gleason. She She jumps ship from Idaho State to join the Eastern staff after spending the past three seasons with the Bengals as an assistant coach. Goles graduated from Idaho St., playing at guard from 2017 to 2021. As an assistant coach, Goles helped prepare scouting reports and breaking down film, while focusing on player development for the guards. She was key for the Bengals recruiting effort, designated as the international student-athlete recruitment and retention expert. Goles was also involved in the team’s strength and conditioning program, along with fundraising, summer camp coordinator, social media coordinator, community service coordinator, booster engagement liaison and director of basketball operations. Prior to the 2024-25 season, Goles was elevated to the No. 2 assistant by head coach Seton Sobolweski. During her three seasons coaching at ISU, Goles coached All-Big Sky selections Laura Bello, Tasia Jordan and Kaecy Spink. Goles had a decorated playing career as a Bengal, earning one All-Big Sky first team selection (2020-21) and one second team selection (2019-20). She helped guide ISU to a pair of Big Sky championships in 2021 and 2022. Balancing life as a student-athlete, Goles earned All-Academic honors all four years in Pocatello. Prior to being a Bengal, Goles played at Western Wyoming Community College from 2016-17, earning NJCAA All-American honors and first team All-Conference for Region IX. Goles was a double major at Idaho St., earning a bachelor’s of science in psychology, followed by a bachelor’s for arts in sociology. She then pursued and earned a master’s for physical education, with an emphasis on athletic administration. A native of Split, Croatia, Goles represented the country’s junior national team from 2010 through 2016, earning team captain from ‘11 to ‘16.

Brynna Maxwell
Assistant Coach
Brynna Maxwell was hired in May of 2025 to join the Eastern Washington women's staff. Maxwell is well familiar with the area after playing at Gonzaga for two seasons (2022-24), where she earned two All-WCC first team honors. Originally from Gig Harbor, Wash., Maxwell initially started her collegiate career at Utah (2019-22), earning two All-Pac 12 honors, along with a spot on the 2020 Pac-12 All-Freshman team. Adding to her list of honors, Maxwell appeared on the Ann Meyers Drysdale watchlist in three seasons and the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year watchlist for two seasons. Following graduation, Maxwell was drafted 13th in the WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky. She spent last season playing in the Liga Femenina Endesa for Celta Zorka Recalvi in Vigo, Spain. Eastern will be Maxwell’s first collegiate coaching opportunity, but worked as a summer camp coach for both the ‘Zags and Utes in their offseason. During camp season, Maxwell taught team concepts and individual skills, while building relationships with both potential student-athletes and their high school coaches. Maxwell worked as an assistant coach for Gig Harbor High School in spring of 2021. Maxwell earned her bachelor’s of science degree in communications, with a health minor from Utah, while placing on the Dean’s List in three years. She then earned her master’s of arts in organizational leadership from Gonzaga, landing on the President’s List for two years.

Jaela Eggers
Assistant Coach
Jaela Eggers was hired as Eastern Washington women's basketball Assistant Coach and Director of Operations in August of 2025 by head coach Joddie Gleason. Jaela arrives at Eastern after working at Seattle Pacific University last academic year (2024-25) in various roles as a graduate assistant intern. She assisted with administrative support, event coordination and compliance responsibilities for the Falcons. Jaela helped schedule practices, organize home events, along with monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. Prior to Seattle Pacific, Jaela worked as a Social Media and Events Coordinator intern for George Fox University from January 2023 to April 2024. In her role, Jaela helped monitor and analyze social media trends and incorporate those trends in social media strategies. She also collaborated with the marketing team to create content to strengthen organizational branding and achieve departmental goals. Outside of collegiate athletics, Jaela spent six years as an AAU Basketball Coach in Bellevue, Wash., working as a part of Friends of Hoop Seattle. Jaela handled both coaching and administrative jobs in her role as a coach. Jaela earned her master’s of education in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from the University of Washington this past June. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication and a minor in Business Administration from George Fox in August of 2024. The job is a family affair for Jaela as her sister, Jaecy Eggers, is going into her sophomore season for EWU.

Larry Anderson
Assistant Coach
Larry Anderson follows Monson from Long Beach to Eastern after working as an assistant coach for the 2023-24 season. In his first season with the Eagles, Anderson focused on program skill development, and worked heavily with the guards. His coaching was instrumental in aiding a roster that ranked second in the Big Sky in Steals (241) and fourth in Assists (437). With Anderson's coaching, we saw career seasons from Nic McClain, Sebastian Hartmann and Mason Williams, as well as the fluid integration of transfers Tyler Powell, Sam Stockton and Elijah Thomas into the Eastern program. LBSU finished the season with a 21-15 overall record and 10-10 in the Big West. The team was the only school in the country to have a win over a Big 10 (Michigan), Big East (DePaul) and a Pac-12 school (USC). In the classroom, LBSU earned a 3.2 team GPA, the highest mark in program history. Anderson was key in helping LBSU’s run to the Big West Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. With Anderson’s guidance, LBSU ranked first in the Big West in scoring offense (77.4), offensive rebounds (12.5), blocked shots (4.2) and steals (7.9). Anderson also worked directly to develop three All-Big West players in forward Aboubacar Traore (First Team), forward Lassina Traore (Second Team) and guard Marcus Tshonis (Honorable mention). Before working at LBSU, Anderson was an assistant coach at Cerritos College (Norwalk, Calif.) in the 2022-23 season. Anderson helped mentor student-athletes on the court and in the classroom to help them to pursue a degree at a four-year university. Anderson is an alumni of LBSU, playing from 2008 to 2012 with the program. In 2012, Anderson was named Big West Defensive Player of the Year as the team won the conference and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. Anderson ranks seventh in LBSU history with 1,538 points, while ranking eighth in assists (362) and ninth in rebounds (591). He was just just the second player to have 1500 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists. Anderson played in the NBA G League from 2013 to 2014 with the Springfield Armor, now know as the Grand Rapids Gold. He also played overseas with Okapi Aalstar (Belgium), Leputan Korikobrat (Finland), Maccabi Raanana (Israel) and BC Nokia (Finland). Monson on Anderson “Larry played for me for four years and was one of the best all around players ever to play at Long Beach State. Larry has a great feel for the game, and his knowledge of basketball, as a player is as good as anyone I have coached in 37 years. Having played for me, it gives him insight and a bond with the current players, along with what they are going through on a daily basis. Larry is exceptional at player development and helping them grow as both players and people. Loyalty is the number one quality a good assistant must have, and Larry’s loyalty and understanding what it takes to succeed at this level is unquestioned.”
