Stan Kerr

Head Coach

Kerr began his tenure as Easterns head mens coach in January of 1996. He first came to Eastern as an undergraduate in the late 1970s and returned as a graduate assistant coach from 1991-1993. During his time at EWU, Kerr's mens team has had two NCAA All-Americans (Kurt Kraemer and Ryan Cole in 2001), 46 individual Big Sky Conference Champions and 184 Big Sky All-Conference performers. Since taking over the sprints and hurdles in 2009, Kerr has coached his athletes to nine school records and 76 Eastern top ten all-time marks. While a member of the Spokane Community College and University of Montana track squads, Kerr ran on mile relay teams that still hold school records of 3:10.50 and 3:12.70, respectively. Kerr came to EWU in fall 1977 to finish school. He ran legs of relay teams for EWU in 1979 that set school records, including the 800-meter-sprint-medley relay (1:31.38). Kerr received his bachelor's degree in 1980 and master's degree from Eastern in 1993. After he left Eastern in 1993, Kerr became the head men's coach at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. While at Eau Claire, he coached the NCAA Division III women's high jump champion. He and his wife, Saralynn, have two sons, Tully and Carson. Stan Kerr is in his 22nd season as head men's track and field/cross country coach for the 2016-17 school year. He coaches Eastern competitors in the sprints and hurdles. Erik Rasmussen

Assistant Coach

Rasmussen was a volunteer assistant pole vault coach at Brigham Young University from 2008-2012. During his time in Provo, Utah, he coached three First-Team All-Americans and 12 NCAA Prelminary Round qualifiers. He also coached seven individual athletes to 15 total appearances at the NCAA National Championship meet. During the 2011 indoor season, Rasmussen coached four athletes who qualified for the NCAA National Championships. From 1998 to 2003, Rasmussen competed in the pole vault and decathlon for the BYU Cougars and was selected as a member of the All-MWC team. He had personal-bests of 17-4 1/2 in the pole vault, 6,319 points in the decathlon and 5,244 in the indoor heptathlon. Rasmussen is a native of Modesto, Calif. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Rome, Italy. He graduated from BYU with a bachelors degree in psychology and is in the process of attaining his masters degree in exercise science. He has a wife Nicole, who also competed for the BYU track team. They have two children -- daughter Tate who was born in May of 2012 and a son Bo, born in February 2015. Erik Rasmussen is entering his fifth season as EWU's jumps and combined-events coach in the 2016-17 school year. He has a Level I USATF coaching certification and a Level II certification in jumps. Since joining the Eastern coaching staff in September of 2012, seven athletes have earned All-Big Sky honors in jumping events, including two Big Sky Champions, and have combined for 14 Eastern top ten all-time marks. Allison has coached Regional and first round NCAA Division I qualifiers in 11 of the past 12 years. He coached one of Easterns most decorated athletes, Keisa Monterola, who was an NCAA All-American in 2012 and set the school records for the vault in indoor and outdoor. Monterola also holds the indoor and outdoor Big Sky Conference meet record for the pole vault, and set the Venezuelan Indoor National record during her time at Eastern. He has coached seven Big Sky Champions and 27 All-Conference performers in the pole vault. In 2005 Allison coached the men vaulters to a top-three sweep at the conference championships. He has coached all four EWU school record holders as well as several vaulters on Eastern top ten all-time list (Indoor- 10 women, six men, Outdoor- 10 women, six men). Allison also has his USA Track and Field Level I certification. As a coach at the Community College of Spokane in 2004, he coached the mens NWAACC Champion who broke the school record with a height of 16-4. Athletes coached by Allison held all school records while he coached there. In 2006 he coached two women vaulters who placed first and second at conference -- they were the only two female vaulters on the team. As a coach at Riverside High School (WA) from 1992 to 2000, he coached three state champions and several state placers. Allison grew up in Fresno, Calif., and attended the University of California at Irvine. While at Irvine, he reached a personal best of 15-6 in the vault and competed in the conference championships twice. Allison owns his own business in the Spokane area.
