Eckerd College Women's Basketball

Honsinger earned his 100 career coaching victory November 11, in a 65-59 win over UPR-Bayamon. A former player for the Tritons, Honsinger has quickly made an impact on the women's program. In 2009, he became the school's first women's basketball head coach to be named the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year since 1986 after Eckerd set a new record for overall wins (17) and conference victories (9). The success came after a huge improvement in 2007-08, which saw the Tritons go 15-13 -- including a program-best 8-0 start to SSC play. During the process, he had two players recognized on the All-SSC team (Olivia Nagle and Ashley Lutz), with Lutz becoming a two-time member following the 2009-10 campaign. The strides continued into 2008-09, matching the team's mark for wins in a season (17) and SSC victories (9). The Tritons also reached the SSC Tournament semifinals for the second time in the last three years. Prior to leading the Eckerd program, Honsinger, a native of Albany, N.Y., was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the College of Saint Rose. Away from Eckerd, Honsinger has also served as a coach and speaker at numerous camps and clinics, both domestic and abroad. He graduated from Eckerd with a degree in psychology in 1998, and he later received his master's degree in education administration from The College of Saint Rose in 2004.  Honsinger and his wife, Karen, reside in St. Petersburg and have two daughters, Reese and Anna, and a son, Myles.

Paul Honsinger has evolved Eckerd women's basketball as one of the top programs in the nation during his tenure. He is a three-time NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year finalist (2016–17, 2021–22, 2022–23) and a three-time Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year recipient (2008–09, 2016–17, 2025-26). Over the past nine seasons, his teams have compiled a 206–67 record, highlighted by eight 20-win campaigns and a dominant 104–22 record at home during that stretch. His squads have consistently appeared in the WBCA Top 25 rankings, reaching a program-best No. 5 during the 2022–23 season and finishing that year ranked No. 9 nationally. Honsinger recently wrapped up his 20th season as head coach of the Eckerd women’s basketball program after leading the Tritons through another historic campaign. During the 2025-26 season, Eckerd captured the Sunshine State Conference regular season championship outright, finished with a 25–7 overall record, and earned the No. 3 seed in the NCAA South Region Tournament, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history. He was named the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year Honsinger’s squad established itself as one of the most well-rounded teams in NCAA Division II in 2025-26, ranking among the nation’s top 50 in 13 statistical categories. The Tritons ranked fourth nationally in three-pointers per game while also placing 13th in assist-to-turnover ratio, 22nd in turnovers per game, 23rd in scoring margin, 26th in assists per game, and 28th in scoring defense. Eckerd also ranked among the national leaders in rebounding margin (29th), defensive rebounds per game (27th), field goal percentage (43rd), and three-point percentage (49th), while committing the fourth-fewest fouls per game in the country. Individually, the Tritons continued their tradition of elite player development under Honsinger. Eckerd produced two WBCA All-Americans, two D2CCA All-South Region selections, and four All-SSC performers, while Triton players collected five SSC Player of the Week honors throughout the season. The campaign also marked the program’s eighth 20-win season in the last nine years, further cementing Eckerd’s status as one of the premier programs in the Sunshine State Conference and the NCAA South Region. She is just the third player of the year in program history. Lauryn Vieira was tabbed the SSC Defensive Player of the Year, just the second in Eckerd history, and Sofia Persson, was named to the second team and newcomer team.  In 2022-23, he guided Sofia Persson to WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, D2CCA All-Region, and SSC First Team honors. He also coached Lauryn Vieira to back-to-back SSC SSC Defensive Player of the Year accolades, just the third player in SSC history to do so, and Maya Price to another First Team All-SSC honor.  In 2023-24, he guided Lauryn Vieira to First Team WBCA All-American honors, the first first-team selection in program history. She also garnered first team all-region, SSC Player of the Year, SSC Defensive Player of the year accolades. She became just the third SSC player to earn both awards in the same year and the first SSC player to receive three defensive player of the year honors. Hannah Wentworth was also selected to the third team.  In 2025-26, he guided Emma Egan and Ieva Korzane to WBCA All-American honors, the first time the program has seen multiple All-Americans in a season. Egan and Korzane were both All-Region selections by D2CCA, making Eckerd the only team in the region with more than one on the list. Each of them were First Team All-SSC. Aaron King was tabbed as the head men's and women's cross country coach in April 2025.  King joins Eckerd in the relaunch of the men's and women's cross country teams with proven success in developing high-caliber cross-country programs. King spent the previous two seasons at Lander University (SC) as the head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field.  At Lander, he led the Bearcats to eight top-10 finishes between both programs, including a fifth-place finish by the men's and women's squads at the Peach Belt Conference Championships this fall. He also led both programs to the NCAA Tournament this year.  King's track and field teams had record-breaking seasons in his first year as head coach. The men set 19 school records, while the women set 17 for the women. Prior to Lander, he spent two seasons at Spartanburg Methodist College (SC) as the head cross country and track coach. In 2022, he led both men's and women's cross country programs to the NJCAA Regional Championship title, advancing to the NJCAA National Championship. In 2021, he led five men and four women to the National Championship event.   He spent six seasons at his alma mater, Roosevelt University (Ill.), from 2015 to 2021 as the head cross country and track coach. He had three women compete at the NAIA National Championship during his tenure.  An accomplished athlete, King competed in the NAIA National Championship in his senior year at Roosevelt in 2012, receiving all-conference honors that season as well. 

David Woodrum joined the Tritons staff as the head men's and women's golf coach in August 2023. He enters his third season at the helm in the 2025-26 campaign.  In his first year, he led women's golfer to the NCAA South Region, just the second appearance by a Triton in program history. Eriksson finished tied for 13th. She posted seven top-20 finishes on the year, including fifth at the SSC Championship on April 14-16, which is the best in program history. The women's team won the invite at Innisbrook to open the season, while shooting a program record for a three-round low with an 887. The women's team also won the William J. Mathews Academic Excelence Award for the team with the highest GPA. On the men's side, he led Eckerd and Josh DiZinno to wins at the Saint Anselm Florida Invite. The Tritons' victory is their first since at least the 2009-10 season. It is Eckerd's best finish since September 26-27, 2011, DiZinno's title was the first since Jeff Evanier won the Jay Jennison Memorial on September 27, 2011.  Woodrum continued to elevate both programs in the 2024-25 campaign. On the women's side he led Melissa Ball and Sandra Eriksson to individual appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the first time Eckerd has had two individuals make the NCAA Tournament. Eckerd ended the season ranked No. 32 in the country. The women;s team also collected the William J. Mathews Academic Excelence Award for the second straight year. On the men's side he led Reggie Fear to a selection to the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first individual selected for the regional since 2011. He was named the Golf Coaches Association of America Atlantic Region Coach of the Year after leading the men's team to the NCAA National Championships in May, where the team placed 16th. He guided the men's team to the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championship Title and the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championship Title. The women's team finished third at the MEC Championships, their best finish in program history. They also won the Wally Edgell Championship. He also produced a GCAA Honorable Mention All-American on the men's squad and eight All-MEC honorees (four men and four women).  Prior to his time at Davis and Elkins, he held the position of head men's and women's golf coach at his alma mater Bluefield State (WV). Woodrum served as the head men's coach since 2017, guiding the program to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Title in 2021 and a third-place finish at the USCAA Championships in 2019. He served as the women's head coach since 2020 when he launched the program.  An accomplished player, Woodrum produced a highly successful career as a student-athlete, leading the Big Blue to a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship and second-team All-American honors in 2017.  He earned his Bachelor's degree in Management from Bluefield State in 2017.

Ward Cromwell joined the Tritons in August 2023 as the head sailing coach. He enters his third season at the helm for the 2025-26 campaign.  In his second season at the helm, he helped guide Eckerd back to the ICSA National Championships, while coaching two SAISA Rookies of the Year in Avery Guck and Jordan Vieira.  ICSA National Qualifiers: 2025 (Open Fleet Race Championsip)  SAISA Awards Rookie of the Year (2) Avery Guck (2025): Open Crew  Jordan Vieira  (2025): Open Skipper First Team (2) Avery Guck (2025): Open Crew  Jordan Vieira  (2025): Open Skipper Cromwell comes to Eckerd after spending 18 years at fellow SAISA school, College of Charleston, where he helped build the Cougars into a national powerhouse. He won six Fowle Trophies as the best overall team in college sailing and 20 ICSA national championships. Cromwell has won at least one ICSA National Championship in each of the six collegiate racing classes with three match race championships, four men’s singlehanded titles, one women’s singlehanded crown, three women’s fleet race championships, six open fleet race championships, and three team race titles. His accomplishments continue as he has produced 92 ICSA All-Americans among open and women’s skippers and crews and 13 ICSA All-Academic honorees. Additionally, he claimed 51 conference championships and five ICSA Sailors of the Year (three women and two men).  Crowell also spent the last 20 years as a youth and Olympic coach with US Sailing.  He obtained his bachelors degree in education from Old Dominion in 1999.
